Seat for your suitcase

I’m on the train from Birmingham to London, managed to get a seat but the two people to my left both have put their suitcases on the seat beside them. Some people standing but if they’re not prepared to ask them to move their case I guess they will just stand.
Would you ask them to move their suitcase or would you say nothing?

I would if I were standing, but if seated myself, no, it's for the standing people to do.

I would tell them to move their suitcases. I used to live on a tube line that went to Heathrow and used to routinely have that conversation with people about their suitcases

They may have bought an extra seat for their suitcase so they might be entitled to do this.

Nooooooooooo they absolutely haven’t.

I’d tell them to move their bag and I wouldn’t be particularly polite about it. If it’s a burly bloke I usually smile sweetly and ask if he needs help getting it onto the rack. Because I’m quite the twat sometimes, and inconsiderate behaviour like this brings out the worst in me.

Absolutely I would tell them to move it! People are such inconsiderate twats!

Ha. I commute on that line & I often ask people to move their luggage so I can sit, or point out the suitcase-covered seats to standing people.

There was one bloke who decided it was simpler to leave the cases where they were & give me his seat.

To be fair - it can be very difficult finding places for cases especially if you want to keep eyes on your stuff

I’ve been in some quite hysterical situations in trains with no luggage space left / people being helped - lifted - over luggage to help the get off , blokes rearranging to make gangways - all good humour but the trains need a better design. Commuter trains are not about luggage but cross country ones should have space

but the stuff should always be moved if people need a seat without anyone needing to ask
