Does anyone have one of these? Are they passe? Any recommendations of where to get one if you have one? thanks thinking of this as a Christmas present for a friend who travels a lot.

Bought one for my husband a couple of years ago for Xmas. We spent a couple of days together putting it up, it was a good team building exercise, complete with swearing, time outs..and trying to figure out how to place Antarctica in the right place, but also have the TV in the right place. We ultimately sacrificed Antarctica..only the top shows but all in all I loved it then, and still do years later.
I often refer to it as have traveled alot but am absolutely crap at geography! 🤣🤣🤣
You do need a good sized wall to put it on though, and it's a time commitment to put it up..so if they aren't into that kinda thing maybe not?

Thanks. I appreciate all your info. Everything I’ve read says it’s an exercise in patience to put up. Poor Antarctica, taking one for the team.
what about the quality of the wood and longevity?

Wood is about 1/2 inch thick and is excellent quality-its not plywood that can easily snap when you are putting it together. The stickers have held, no bits have dropped off, and we live in a very hot country that can be hard on adhesives! Ours has been in situ for 3 years if I remember rightly and wood has not discoloured, again we live in a hot country with lots of sun, so this was one of my worries.
