Anaesthesia truth telling.....

Has anyone heard of this? My dh is having surgery soon and I just need to know the answer to something truthfully once and for all. As awful as it sounds I thought I could use this opportunity in the days after his operation to find out whether he actually has done something that he always said he wouldn't. I have no evidence just a couple of random bits of info which may or may not be connected. Its not that serious an operation but involves a general anaesthetic.

Yes he is more likely to tell you something that he has lied about before, but equally it could be that he makes up random nonsense or agrees to anything.

It’s a bit dodgy though to probe him like that when he is coming out of sedation…I would feel violated…it would be like rooting through his phone.

I didn't mean as soon as he's coming round, I'm not that callous.😊 Yes that makes sense that he could make up something random. He generally gives himself away without realising it as I know him well apart from this one thing that I know he'd deny forever.
Do you know this from personal experience, or workplace experience? You seem pretty sure.

no, shit that comes out of someone's mouth while coming out of anesthetic is trash "there's a squirrel", much later, "i want that squirrel", much later, "i want my squirrel stew" ridiculous nonsense. "ohhhhh, ohhhhh, my teeth, i don't know where my teeth are"
and once the pentobarbital wears off (generally when in the recovery room) they are relaxed but aware (so you missed your pathetic opportunity).
the pain meds they are sent home with are not truth serums.
if you think your partner is a liar this "opportunity" will NOT help dispel or confirm your suspicions.
i've been at the side of hundreds of people both going under and coming out of anesthetic.
where did you get this wild idea from? tv? a book? i really find it hard to believe someone with any basic education would think this. do you equally think drunks tell the truth?

Its either too late at night on here, or maybe no one has any experience of this? Or maybe there aren't any anaesthetists on here?

From: personal experience I woke up and told one of the blokes in the operating theatre - recovery room, probably - that he was very handsome. Then went on to spout some shit about Ricky Gervais telling it like it is and how I wasn’t a Nazi.

make of that what you will!

PS. I love Ricky.

When I came around, I kept complaining my flight was late. Didn't even have a future trip booked or planned

I’ve had anaesthesia.

you talk complete rubbish about what’s in your head (usually random dreams).

never heard anything about people telling the truth. I was more likely to hallucinate

Why would you think a GA would affect his ability to lie days after an op?

Or maybe there are, and they think you are both an absolute fool and also have questionable morals to even be thinking this in the first place (as silly as it is), and they can’t be bothered responding to you.
