Ways to earn money online

Is anybody finding anything that works?

I did write a long post listing all of the things that I've tried & aren't working for me, but I somehow deleted it. So I'll just ask the question & go from there.

How much do you need to make?

NervousDinosaur · 08/10/2026 13:26

Upsetbetty Anything. As much as possible.

I'm desperately searching for a job but am having no luck so I'm trying to find other ways to make some money for the time being.

-I've previously done online surveys, but that was maybe £50 a month at most and that was with 3 platforms sites
-Cam girl or sexy voice calls. Sorry, not sure what thats called but I assume its good money
-Make things and sell them. My friend crochets tiny animals (amigurami) and now makes commissions. She works full time anyways, so its just on the side, but its become quite popular.
-Make something Christmas themed

What skills/experience do you have? We might have suggestions for actual jobs you could do.

NervousDinosaur · 08/10/2026 13:40

Thank you 5289843DM for the ideas.

I can't really make anything at home as I have no money for materials. I'd love to as I'm a crafty person. I've applied for some jobs like that but after spending hours applying & jumping through their hoops etc, it's just more online survey sites & not actually craft related at all.

I am on one online survey site & it's fine but the payout is small for the time spent. Some of them won't accept me as I have an expired passport & just a voters I.D.

I have many years working in dementia care & before that a few years in restaurants.

I'm having to look for admin/customer service type jobs as I'm trying to find something remote or hybrid, & I'm just not getting any where.

I was going to apply for the phone lines ones but I couldn't find any info on earnings & when I emailed this one company back asking how much, they just ignored me & told me to finish the application.

I now earn about £800 a month using three sites. Prolific, Usertesting and Dscout. I am at my computer 9-6 five days a week to earn that amount as you have to be checking the websites constantly. I do it alongside my regular job where I work from home. Its a nice little earner is website testing and focus groups.

Dmsandfloatydress · 08/10/2026 13:50

Also look on reddit group Beermoney UK . Lots of ideas there

5289843DM · 08/10/2026 13:54

Not sure if you've tried these sites? I've never use them myself but I've seen them recommended on here. Office angels isn't JUST admin jobs either.

Thank you Dmsandfloatydress I will have a look.

I tried Prolific before but they wouldn't accept my I.D.

I struggle sign some of them as they want you downloading Apps & games etc & I have no space on my phone.

It's balancing act for me with trying to find an actual job too.

OP posts:
NervousDinosaur · 08/10/2026 14:13

Thank you 5289843DM I've looked on the work from home Hub several times, I can never find anything on there where you don't need experience.

This is always going to trip me up.

Most of the 'No experience needed' jobs that I do find, either involve months of paid training first or turn out to be just online surveys.

OP posts:
pinkishtongue · 08/10/2026 14:34

Five surveys is ok. You do five surveys and get £5. It can be frustrating going through the screening questions and then not qualifying but it’s a bit of extra cash (I get it paid to PayPal then transfer to my current account.)

NervousDinosaur · 08/10/2026 14:41

Thank you pinkishtongue I'll have a look. I'm on Branded surveys now & my only issue is sometimes they will say '10 minutes survey' & after 45 minutes it finally ends & you get... 50p.

They pay in gift cards though which works well for me.

I've been sent an email for the next step for a job with 'Slingshot AI'... These have mixed (leaning towards the negative) reviews online but it's the first time that I've been sent a next step (& it's paid) so I'll take that!

Maybe posting on here yesterday brought me some luckGrin

With your experience you would make a very good personal assistant for someone with a disabilty. There is usually a council associated company who can match up jobs with PAs and you would be employed by them not self employed. There is a huge shortage of pas where i live.

NervousDinosaur · Yesterday 09:14

Geneticsbunny It's so hard to find something like that around here. Most of them require you to drive, which I don't.

I am looking for things like that. As well as online stuff.

I downloaded the Freecash app at the weekend - you basically play online games and get paid for it. I’m up to just over £25 (I work full time so that’s from a couple of hours in the evenings only). So it’s not going to be the solution to everything, but every little helps. Although you said something about no space on your phone - if I were you I’d delete apps I’m not currently using and install the apps for earning the money (maybe look at any videos you have on your phone and save them somewhere else so you can delete from your phone, same with any downloaded movies/songs etc).

I used to do something called Shop and Scan - you basically get paid for scanning all of your shopping!

Mystery Shopping can be good too - Retail Eyes was one of the two firms I used to work for. Another one I did was by Kantar I think.

If ID is holding you back, why not get yourself a provisional driving license? You said you don’t drive, so if you could learn to drive this could open up further opportunities to you. Are you claiming any benefits you are entitled to whilst looking for work?

I would say be careful not to spend so much time doing all these different things online to earn money that you aren’t focussing on applying for work!

Get yourself registered with temp agencies for anything you think you could do - care work, basic admin, basic finance roles, etc.

Set up your LinkedIn profile with your experience, ask friends and former colleagues to endorse your skills on there, and set your profile as actively looking for work.

Ultimately, if there were an easy way to earn loads of money online, we’d all be doing it already. Be wary of scams as people will try to entice you into easy cash jobs if they suspect you are desperate.

For a quick 20, you can set up a zopa account using this link (disclaimer, i get it too). It comes through within 24 hours, then you'll get a link to share within a week that you can share. Not a lot but you don't have to set up any direct debits or deposit anything, so it's not bad.

Use my referral link to open a Biscuit bank account and we'll both earn £20. T&Cs apply. www.zopa.com/mgma?referralCode=b0115f2a79d8e082860e

NervousDinosaur · Yesterday 11:09

Thank you Tillow4ever Some good ideas.

I can't afford to learn to drive, if I could then I would. I can't afford a provisional licence either, I just googled & it's £35.

I'm desperate & my DD for my water has bounced as I have 0 in the bank so I can't be spending any more money right now.

Yes it's a balancing act with trying to find a job & trying to earn some cash right now!

I can't do care work or anything on my feet too much.

I'm on UC & LCWRA (which is a blessing as it means that I don't have the job centre on my back right now) but I can't attempt to do too much as my health isn't great, so I'm hoping to get started with something & then build up the hours once I'm stronger.

I only have the standard apps that the phone came with, I have nothing to delete to get more space.

Thank you for your ideas though, I don't mean to be negative!

murasaki I'll look into this. Thank you.

You can get a provisional driving licence straight away as far as I know and then use it as ID ... I think also you can then drive a 50cc bike as a learner. Think of all the kids you see on electric bikes. No licence of any description needed.

NervousDinosaur · Yesterday 11:16

PortiaRose Can you? When I googled they said it's £34 & you can't get one for free. I hope that you can!

Although most places have been good tbh, it's only a couple of survey sites that said 'no' but most were happy with my old passport & voters I.D.

murasaki · Yesterday 11:16

No worries, I found it quick to set up, and made 60 off the last lot of referrals.

NervousDinosaur · Yesterday 12:55

Murasaki Sorry I didn't realise you had to download an app so I won't be able to do it. Thank you for being kind & offering it though.

No worries, it was worth a thought. Most things, including some surveys, but definitely the bank ones amd game ones involve apps.

murasaki · Yesterday 12:59

And good luck, do share anything you find that works please!

Absolutely no way on earth is anyone earning £800 a month using those sites. There’s never anything available on them. Complete load of bollocks.

i would happily send you screenshots but im not lying at all!! This morning I completed a 60 dollar interview with B and Q on usertesting followed by two 10 dollar website tests for Currys and Lloyds bank! That was before 10am, thank you very much! My total in the last ten months on Usertesting is precisely 3188 dollars. Thats just on one site. As I said, I use three, mostly. I dont wait for emails though I stay on the sites and click on the studies as soon as they arrive as you need to be quick. I dont appreciate being called a liar!
