DD having curly toe correction surgery this week - any experience of this?

As per the title, DD6 is having 2 curly toes corrected on Tuesday. One on each foot. She has around 5 in total affected but they are operating on the worst 2.

We’ve been given no information on recovery, other than she will be off school for a week. Google has been no help, there’s no solid NHS advice for recovery after this surgery.

Has anyone/their DC had this surgery and can advice on what to do expect during and recovery? I feel so ill
prepared for both DD and I!

Its a super easy surgery flexor tenotomy. I have loads of patients here who have it done. I did kids in my last NHS trust but not this one. They just go in via a tiny incision under the toe and snip the tendon so the toe stays straight. Recovery is quick about a week which is roughly how long skin takes to heal. Sometimes they put one stitch in. Your DD can weight bear but must wear hard soled shoes. Obvy no running about. Very little pain.

Thank you - that’s really helpful. I did look up the surgery via the name given but found very little aftercare advice from NHS and was hesitant to trust anything non-nhs.

Will she be able to work fairly soon after then? We’ve been told she will have bandages and boots but no mention of how long for. Will she need to return for any checks?

sorry for all of the questions!
