Can a six year old self harm

Is it possible a six year old cut themselves on purpose after an ugly row with a semi-present parent?

Trying to work out if it is accidental or self harm?

Seeking professional and legal support to get help and away.

My daughter is 7 and used to bite herself or hit herself in the face. Cutting themselves in would be slightly more worried. I’d definitely speak to them first and then make an appointment with the GP preferably without them there first.

Yes I know of a child who dug pencils into their legs in school

Absolutely one of mine used to headbutt the wall from being a baby when angry, my friends daughter use to pull clumps of her own hair out, my niece use to dig objects into herself to try to cut herself with them.

Thank you all. Cut probably isn't the right word. It was more scratching and using pencils to damage skin or poke through clothes into skin.

Yes, using the tools available - pencils, pens etc. I didn’t go out of my way to find knives or other properly dangerous implements.
I did it in primary school as a way of handling frustration & feelings that I couldn’t comprehend or communicate. Thank God I grew out of it, but decades later do still feel the desire to repeat in order to cope with extreme emotions.
Perhaps you could do what my DP didn’t do and talk to your DC about what emotions they are currently feeling?
