Low ferritin with heavy periods and long wait for treatment

Ferritin levels low.
In 2024 my Ferritin levels were at 4. GP gave me iron for 3 months. Re tested in 25, Ferritin 10 told to take iron vitamins with no guidance on dosage ect. Now 26 my levels are 6, meanwhile my full blood count is perfect.
I believe its cause my my periods being heavy, been waiting 2 years for a hospital appointment. As every treatment ive had has made them worse, as in I bleed non stop for months at a time. Tranexamic acid sort of works, but cause big palm size clots up to 5 a day, but then I get large clots anyway. and every test ive had (biopsies, cameras, scans etc) are normal. Im 42 now and been like this from the start.

I asked about ablation, hysterectomy but told no as I've had 2 c sections.

Im at a loss as to what to do now. As until I get my cycles under control, im never going to build levels up. I asked to be referred to a specialised hospital, instead of my local small general hospital.l, but was told that wasn't possible, as im under the waiting list (2 years now).

I can't help with the actual problem but I use to suffer heavy periods so I was always anemic and my gp would give me the usual 3 months supply then I happened to have an appointment with a hematologist about something seperate and he said why on earth are you not on iron tablets long term and I said I didn't realise you could be but you apparently can so he wrote to my gp and they where added to my repeats. I know it doesn't solve the actual problem but it should hopefully make you feel better
