I did a previous thread on this but now have new ones to add and some old ones still not fixed. Make me feel better ?!!

Measuring jug - still using a chipped one
Tumble dryer door handle broken off and open with a blunt knife
bath side is cracked and just awful. The guy who replaced the click clack plug with a new one (now also broken) broke it and did such a bad job of replacing it. Do not use Check a trade - my husband has a unique knack of picking trades people with “issues” who are crap We have sympathy and have never complained but Ffs They’ve been crap

Here you go:

Fridge door
Fridge salad drawer
Cat flap
Underfloor heating
Couple of kitchen floor tiles cracked
A bit fell off the front door yesterday
Kitchen bin doesn’t close properly
Tumble drier was making a funny noise, hoping it has healed itself over the summer
Pane of glass in an internal door
Fence is falling down
Bit of carpet has come loose on the stairs

I’m ok with it all as long as the dishwasher / washing machine / laptop / hoover / hot water keep going. Will get round to it all eventually, just hard to find the time and the inclination 😬

And the cash no? I’ve also got a bit of work top edge that’s peeled off and a less than amazing toilet flush that’s fine if you chuck a jug or two town if you need it to flush fast as it’s quite slow to refill

Oh and my fence too. Forgot that. Jesus

Oh yes, and the cash 😖

Electric shower (the power and heat dials ar wired in wrong), front door (we like to say "there's s knackered to it" rather than it's broken), light shade in teens bathroom (I always forget til I go in to clean), drawer in spare bedroom (pull to open and the whole thing comes off, not regularly used so forgotten about).

The bathroom. And I've had a guy to fix the disaster of the mess of it. And he even wrote a poem!
The loft hatch.
The kitchen cupboard door.
The dog.
My car.
Actually, the whole house, really.
The turtle.
My hairdryer.
My knickers.
Shall I carry on?!

noonames · 27/08/2026 20:50

Oh our dog is also broken
Handle on the airing cupboard door comes off in your hand
Shed door is rotten
Intrigued by the poet / bathroom fitter 🙂

The turtle? 🐢

How are your knickers broken ? Loose elastic ?! I’ve also got a bedside lamp that needs a bulb change for about 3 weeks

Well this thread is validating 🤣 we moved a year ago and found a lot of things need some tlc. Managed quite a bit but have now had a baby so the rest will be waiting a while!!

Part of the fence
The shed roof
The garden gate
A window latch
A light fitting
3 out of 4 dining room lightbulbs
A good percentage of the ones in the kitchen too
And the extractor fan light
Currently no functioning shower in the master bathroom - but getting this fixed next month
We don't have a microwave as it broke and hasn't been replaced
Lock in the loo
Several loose floorboards in the attic conversion
Several panes of glass in photo frames
A disco ball
Shoe storage door 'has a knack to it'
There are definitely more...I just can't think of them right now 😅

Ohsuchsorefeet · 28/08/2026 09:10

The loo cistern is falling off the wall so cant have the lid on top.
both showers doors are murky (although clean), damaged by water scale over the past 20 years and need replacing.

The back fence is dodgy in places
I did fix the roof, which is why nothing else has happened
yesterday kitchen bulb started flickering but it’s set in the ceiling and my late DH would have sorted it, no idea where to start on that one.

I squirted wd40 in all the locks on the outside doors yesterday as im sure thatswhat DH used to do and it’s helped with the sticky back door.

thelastcakeismine · 28/08/2026 09:25

This makes me feel a lot better about the rickety things in our house.

Nothing completely broken (yet) but hanging on by a thread:
Shower - difficult to turn on/off, pump takes ages to kick in
Floor boards in lounge chipped (how?) & lifting
Dog (nearly 15)
Sofa’s, very comfy but very tatty
Garden fence
Headboard falling off
Sidetables badly scratched

On the plus side, I did replace all our rickety dining chairs recently so that’s a win!

TheBrunswick · 28/08/2026 09:32

Door on the outside store is falling to pieces
Flaky paint on wall but need to sort damp first.
Laminate floor in hall has gaps but that’s due to hot weather and subsidence so an even bigger problem.
Car needs a new hybrid battery which may not be worth replacing.
Spare room needs a clearout.

BrokenJemima · 28/08/2026 18:49

@Ohsuchsorefeetim sorry about your DH. Can we between us try to help you fix your flickering light ?!

To add to my previous, our kitchen sink has just detached itself from the worktop and fallen into the void below 😖
