Hi , so I’m currently 29 weeks pregnant and I’ve noticed that one of my bottom teeth when I hold it with my 2 fingers there’s some movement when I press it with one finger on my actual tooth it doesn’t move or when I press my tongue on it it doesn’t move either , i got for regular check up at the dentist and they have never mentioned to me about having mobility in my teeth, so just wondering could this be a pregnancy thing because I’m worried sick that I’m going to lose my bottom tooth!! Anyone had anything similar while being pregnant then all been ok after birth?

Yes I did, but I’m 8 months PP and I still do ! When pregnant the dentist said that swollen gums from the extra blood can cause this feeling but the movement is actually tiny compared to how it feels and our bodies are mobile all over so not to worry about it.. it hasn’t caused any issues so far but I am going to mention it again now I’m so far post birth at my check up next week! I think though it’s actually quite normal once you get used to it you’ll likely forget just don’t fiddle it will be ok I’m sure - mine is (!I hope)

@Canopop this has really reassured me I only see
movement when I hold the tooth with 2 fingers and move it if I press it with one finger I can’t see any movement I get so worried! I will definitely try to stop fiddling with it and stop looking at it thank you for your reply x

My children are preschoolers now although I had a lot of issues post pregnancy with my teeth, two molars cracked after my second pregnancy, one so badly that I had to have it extracted eventually. Cost me around £950 to repair the damage to my teeth caused by pregnancy.

Unfortunately it’s very common, if you have severe morning sickness, make sure you rinse your mouth straight away after vomiting, try to avoid sugar and eat a balanced diet. Unfortunately a lot of it is caused by hormones and genetics which you can’t control.

Once baby is born, get a dentist appointment for an Xray to check for any cracks and keep a close eye on your gum health.
