Cheer up lass, it might never happen

I’m so annoyed I need a rant.

There I am just minding my own business walking around the supermarket, picking up a few things.

When an older man has just come up to me stopped in front of me, waved his walking stick at me and said boldly, “cheer up lads, it might never appen”.

I’m furious with myself for not giving him a piece of my mind.

Not that I owe any explanation but I’m feeling unwell, I also just happened to be thinking about my mum who has severe arthritis in both knee's and has just lost her beloved dog. So wasn’t walking around with a big grin plastered to my face.

Honestly who do these cunts think they are? I haven’t had anyone say this to me for years but used to get it regularly when younger.

I hate that too, I am raging on your behalf. If anyone says it to me I reply “it already has” in an angsty voice. Then they usually leave you alone. They think they are being so smart but actually they are twats.

I think your reaction is bizarrely over the top. Just nod, ignore and get on with your day.

Why would the comment warrant being furious, giving him a piece of your mind and calling him a cunt?

It's been years since it happened to me. "It just did" was my response. Although I do like, "thanks random man".

How dare you walk around not decorating the world and providing entertainment for men? HOW DARE YOU?

Got the same having been given a cancer diagnosis a couple of hours before. I did say something. And I did get an apology.

I had this. My ds had just died. I put them straight.

Because it’s widely accepted that it isn’t appropriate to go up to a woman you don’t even know and comment negatively on her face. It’s rude, sexist and totally inappropriate.

Women don’t do it to each other and men don’t do it to other men.

I’ve, like many other woman ignored harassment, sexism and inappropriate behaviour from men most of my life.

I’m so sorry to hear that, and it’s exactly why this type of remark is completely inappropriate.

My go to is 'my mum just died'. (she died years ago so I feel no risk tempting fate with that one). Makes 'em think twice for next time I hope.

I’m so sorry about that. I can only imagine how upsetting a comment like that would be when you’re going through something like that.
