Can I challenge redacted medical records withheld due to third party confidentiality?

I requested medical records about a month ago. Large amounts have come back redacted and this is apparently due to ‘expectation of confidentiality’ and seems to be a series of medical appts about me but not attended by me (when I was 18/19) and information given / discussed that I am now not allowed to see to protect the other persons confidential details and what was discussed?

The thing is I know it was my mother - so why can’t I see the full records ?

Do I contact the ICO?

Could it be your mother's medical info and discussing impact on you?

Is your mother still alive?

No it seems to be info related to my MH (I struggled a lot as a teen) but I’m confused why there are so many entries when I was actually an adult , and not sure how she was able to make appointments it seems under my name to discuss me?

Would she give permission too? She could put it in writing.

of course she might not, especially If her not remembering is strategic
