Any car experts around ? Baffled by car troubles

We have a 4 year old Kia Niro Hybrid with 18,000 miles - no problems ever. Took the car to a very nice and reputable garage (which we have used many times before) for an MOT and driving back the car started to brake by itself and then not accelerate and it lost power. Roadside Assistance said the gears were not changing. It is now at a Kia workshop for diagnostics but just wondered if anything similar had happened to anyone else.

It’s probably just a sensor. It’s always some sort of electronic issue these days.

You can get a diagnostic thing on Amazon. DH got me one. Used it on his Smart car when it kept going wrong.
