Ready salted, salt and vinegar or cheese and onion?

For most of my life it wouldve been cheese and onion but these days I really love a nice ready salted. Can’t beat it. Salt and vinegar for some moments if in the mood

So my pick? Ready salted.

Cheese and onion

Out of that choice, cheese and onion all the way. Hate both vinegar unless on decent chippy chips and salt.

AImportantMermaid · 03/08/2026 07:48

Salt and vinegar. Cheese and onion is for psychopaths.

DanaScullysLegoHair · 03/08/2026 07:49

Salt & Vinegar most of the time. Ready salted with a Coke if hungover 😆

WaltzingWaters · 03/08/2026 07:50

Salt and vinegar every time. I do like ready salted these days too. Not a fan of cheese and onion.

pastadish · 03/08/2026 07:53

walkers cheese and onion. Although I don’t eat them much anymore I try to eat baked crisps if I have any but I love a cheese and onion crisp

ConstantlyFuriosa · 03/08/2026 07:56

Salt and vinegar. Any brand but the best used to be walkers. Until the Co op of all places brought out the irresistible sea salt and Chardonnay vinegar crisp. Oh my days. They are fantastically sharp.

ToadRage · 03/08/2026 07:58

I choose salt and vinegar always. If none i may go for ready salted, never liked cheese and onion. Not a fan of walkers since i discovered M&S handcooked crisps.

NotCompletelyUnfortunateLooking · 03/08/2026 08:01

Salt and vinegar of course.

Cheese and onion crisps are the work of the devil. The only worse flavour is prawn cocktail, surely sent to punish us.

DandelionClockSeeds · 03/08/2026 08:03

Never cheese and onion.

S&V by preference, but plain is perfectly acceptable.

elephantfoot · 03/08/2026 08:05

Take one salt and vinegar and one cheese and onion, put them together and eat at the same time. Tastes like pickled onion crisps. YUM

MrsMoastyToasty · 03/08/2026 08:12

Salt and vinegar for me.

Never ever the abomination that is prawn cocktail flavour.

PersephoneParlormaid · 03/08/2026 08:15

Depends upon what I’m eating. Cheese and onion with egg mayo sandwich, S and V with a cheese sandwich, and ready salted on their own.

You buy all 3 and mix them in a big bowl. Duh.

Nooooooooo, what have I just read ? 😮

Handeyethingyowl · 03/08/2026 08:19

Cheese and onion as a child.

Except hot sunny days playing outside a pub = salt and vinegar and a bottle of coke. The smell of seaweed and ale in the air.

Now, always ready salted - any brand but Tesco own posh crinkle cut are the best IMO.

UnintentionallyFabulous · 03/08/2026 08:21

Ready salted.
I used to love Cheese and Onion as a child but can’t stand it now.
Salt and Vinegar is ok but not my favourite.

AlexanderArnold · 03/08/2026 08:21

Prawn cocktail every time, I make no apology

Of those choices, salt and vingar

I have never understood cheese and onion..

Holymolymoon · 05/08/2026 11:28

i'm a fan of ready salted, or those Smiths Walkers ones without the salt sachet. I was a hardcore salt and vinegar fan, until I wasn't.

hueylouieanddewey · 05/08/2026 11:33

Ready salted with most sandwiches / toasties / glass of wine
Salt & vinegar with tuna sandwiches only
Cheese & onion only at the pub with a pint

Rules.

Cheese and onion are vile. The smell turns my stomach. Mixing flavours at parties etc is why I don’t eat anything when it’s not clear what’s in the bowl.

Ready salted crisps are fine. Salt and vinegar Pringles are good though.

MotherofPearl · 05/08/2026 11:45

S&V for ever.
