What to do in Chester?

[Uberella]

Off to Chester for a few days;staying in a canalside Hotel.

Would love recommendations for places to visit,things to do and where to eat and drink.I love cocktails and coffee (although not together)

We’re a 40 something couple who will be child free for a few days

If you like cocktails try and get to prohibition, you need to be there for opening time as it’s tiny and gets full. The bar downstairs is nice too.

Do the Chester on a Plate food tour with Steph, it's fabulous and you'll get to discover lots of nice food and drink as well as a walking tour of Chester with a bit of history thrown in.

Walk The cathedral, round the Walls to the River Dee to Queens Park Bridge, stopping for a drink. Then back on the Walls to the clocktower. Afternoon well spent.

Market hall for food, walk the walls, karaoke at Rosies! Mooching around the charity shops, vintage book stores and any of the amazing bars and restaurants. Shrub do amazing vegan tapas, and the location is perfect for people watching.

The food market is immense! One of the best I’ve been to, not to big to make it daunting but plenty of choice

Oddfellows have a lovely garden and do Alice in wonderland inspired cocktails

Kukoo is good fun too. Plays excellent music

Go to the races if it’s on. Afternoon well spent and lively.

The rows are quite unusual and it's worth a wander round the centre visiting the shops.

I had a lovely Japanese bento lunch at Location at the end of the row shops. Then I did a lap of the walls and also walked along the canal and river.

There’s a zoo.

Are you staying in the Mill Hotel? It’s lovely there.
I echo what others have recommended but also the Sick to Death museum is really good fun. Lots of lovely little cafes and old pubs too in the Rows for snacks and drinks.

We are going soon. We like the Market for food. As others have said, it’s busy so we tend to go early. Marmalade near to the market also does good sandwiches and cakes.

Walking the walls is interesting and definitely walk by the river and get an icecream, I think that bit is compulsory?
