Is it sensible to store newborn clothes and nappies in the bathroom?

There isn't loads of space in our new flat but theres a huge bathroom which has lots of storage. Could I keep newborn babies stuff in there like outfits, nappies etc or is there a risk of mould due to humidity?

Open nappies will start absorbing moisture, so you don't want those in the bathroom.

I always kept a change of clothing and a few nappies in the ensuite for midnight blowouts but I would think larger quantities might get damp if you are showering there.

that's my worry. We have these massive bathroom with 10 cupboards and barley any extra space in any other room with the other baby stuff!

When you say open nappies absorb water, does that mean once the plastic packet is open the others will absorb water? How fast?

Will clothes be ok?

Wouldn't store anything for long in there. Cupboards won't be sealed from moisture in the air so I imagine things will go damp and mouldy fairly fast.

Anything sealed in plastic should be fine, but not open bags

Why don’t you re-jig some different things stored elsewhere, put those in the bathroom, and put the baby stuff wherever those things were? E.g. your shoes or towels or hoover or whatever could go in the bathroom, freeing space for the baby’s things somewhere else. What is in the baby’s room for why a few outfits/packs of nappies can’t be stored in there? If you must store baby stuff in the bathroom get some really well-sealing plastic boxes to keep moisture out.

Our bathroom is definitely not damp enough for it to be problematic to store nappies, sanitary products etc in. Clothes would probably be ok too, although I'd be more inclined to just have a couple of changes of clothing to hand rather than making it a place where I stored a full wardrobe

I used to store nappies in the bathrooms. As long as there is good ventilation it shouldn’t be a problem. And if it’s damp them you have bigger issues.

so we don't have a dedicated baby room as such. It's a three bed flat.

Bedroom 1: we sleep. 1 cupboard has a boiler, the other is tiny and will be used for DP and mine mostly worn clothes. Room for a next to me crib.

Bedroom 2. Really small. DP office, table and desk a skinny wardrobe with his clothes and a chair that folds into a futon bed for one person for guests. Zero room left.

Bedroom 3: My office. table and desk. I also work from home but will take a break for 9 months for maternity. A skinny wardrobe with all my clothes. Space for one more item of furniture. I'm thinking a crib as they will need that sooner or later.

You can pop dehumidifier bags in the cupboards to absorb any moisture
