Lack of accountability

Is anyone else disturbed by the lack of accountability in this country, at local government and organisation level? (We could go into world politics/war crimes etc where there is no accountability, but I don’t really want to go there).

Thinking things that have affected me recently. Minor stuff like asking my local authority to send me invoices by email and not post. It’s been 2 years and despite me asking you escalate why this isn’t being done - no reply’s nothing happens. New housing was built around here with conditions including traffic management and a cycle path leading to new playing fields - hasn’t happened, petitions ignored.
Speeding in the area - cut and paste replies for 5 years acknowledging the road is too fast but nothing being done.

Saw tha Virgin Media was recently fined for deliberately dropping calls and making it difficult to cancel - a small win I suppose.

I wonder if I’m more tuned in to this now Im a little older/have more responsibilities or whether it’s always been like this? And what if anything can be done? I sign petitions, I write to the authority, vote - try to be community minded but it feels completely fruitless.

Yes. Absolutely exasperated with the local Council. In fact, I'd say I hate those people now.
They are very dismissive (we'll have a meeting, we'll write a 100th letter) with every single serious local issue, nothing ever gets addressed or sorted. In fact, the Council themselves have added to the pot of local shit by spreading Japanese Knotweed from their property and not taking action against a corrupt council officer (they did the bare minimum when the press were getting involved).

I hate the way the Local Authority works and that there is literally NO way to make them accountable.
