Due a laparoscopy and just started my period

I’m due to have it tomorrow to look for suspected endometriosis and have just started my period today.. 5 days early!
I’m waiting for the hospital to call me back and let me know if it can still go ahead, I’ve been on the waiting list for over a year so will be gutted if they can’t. Anyone else had this, did they still operate?

Unless they said anything during the pre op I imagine it'll be fine . Good luck with everything.

As part of my laparoscopy for endo diagnosis they also flushed my tubes to check for blockages so that means putting fluid up into the uterus which is probably not possible if you are on your period.

They might agree to still do the laparoscopy itself it if that is not a concern. For me it was due to scar tissue on my ovary and tube. I wasn't told they would be doing this before I went under but that was over 20 years ago so things may have changed.

I was on my period when they operated. They did everything and it was over 8hrs in theatre, tubes flushed, excision, cysts removed

Do you have a ward number /othet phone no to phone and check today ? Mine was cancelled when I was on my period ,

I had one (admittedly over ten years ago) and it went ahead despite me being on my period. Hope same happens for you.
