For context, me and my neighbours have been living next to each other for 3 years now.
Neighbours family consist of Mother, Father (to 2/3 kids from what I can gather) and 3 children. Eldest 14, younger two approx 11 & 9.
We share a fence side but are behind me, not next to me.
Now, the problem.
To be honest, its a collective of issues, and I am just at a loss of how to handle it all.
- The parents get absolutely wasted around 2-3 nights per week, all of which include blasting music at full pelt until around 11pm-Midnight. This isn't limited to weekends so can be any day of the week. This can start from as early as 3pm. This ALWAYS turns into screaming arguments, with horrific language and the occasional noise as though something physical has taken place. On some of the worst events, we have heard the kids screaming for their parents to stop, crying etc. Its heart breaking to hear.
- The parents seem to speak very differently to the 14 year old, telling them to keep away from their siblings and they don't want them to turn out like them etc. This child hasn't been in school for well over a year.
- They allow the kids to play (and by play, I mean scream and shout) in the garden until 11pm frequently, or out on the street sometimes. Again screaming and shouting outside the front of our house.
- One child refuses to wear shoes when outside apparently, we live on an active building site.
Now, we have lost our patience a few times and spoke to the children ourselves when its clear the parents are sat watching this behaviour and doing nothing about it. These instances include;
- Telling them to stop throwing rubbish in our garden after a half torn can was thrown (whilst they were jumping on their trampoline) and missed my 2 year olds head by an inch. The parents watched me pop over the fence to say stop and did nothing.
- Telling them to stop shouting a neighbours name consistently out of their bedroom window, after hearing them shout at the top of their lungs consistently for approx. 10 mins. at 9pm at night.
- I came home from work on lunch to find them destroying a wooden toy kitchen on my drive (we are a different street, so round the corner and 3 houses in-between) - Obviously told them to do that at their own houses if they want but my drive is not their demolition site.
- After inflating a bouncy castle suitable for my 2 year old, they asked to come into our garden 4 times to me, once to relative who was bringing their toddler, then knocked our door again with another 4 children round the estate to ask again. I explained our child is a lot younger than them, and this bouncy castle is not suitable for their age.
These are just a handful of examples to give context.
The problem we have is, what on earth do we do?! I know they have been reported to their housing association by other neighbours, and I am currently recording any instances I hear of the arguing/noise in general to put together a complaint of my own with evidence to back it up. But it would just appear that as long as the HA are receiving their rent, they simply do not care. So I'm not holding my breath anything will come from my complaint either.
With summer holidays starting, I know its only going to get worse and more frequent. They are not people that are approachable, my partner has wanted to go round a few times in which I have stopped him. Mainly because they are clearly very drunk, and trying to reason with people who clearly think all this behaviour is acceptable is not going to change their mind.
My partner grew up in a similar home environment and it is very triggering for him.
We are worried about the children, its clear they are listening/ witnessing some damaging things, along with the clear lack of boundaries/parenting. And selfishly, we are absolutely fed up of not being able to have our windows open on hot nights because of the noise, and constantly having our door nocked to come in our garden, or to sell us things.
I don't imagine there is much anyone else can really suggest, but I am open to anything at this point! :(
