Would you go on holiday with an ex and your children. Not friends bu any means but civil enough. No new partners to worry about. Wouldnt want to take them abroad on my own. Has anyone done this?

My mum used to organise holidays with my dad after they divorced. The reason being that she couldn’t really trust him to manage a holiday with me solo (also I never would have wanted to go, my dad never had me overnight ever in his life, when they were married or after they split, literally never solo parented ever, not even a day trip out). I think she obviously knew he was useless and it was the only way I’d ever have a holiday with him (she was right!).

But honestly, if there are no safeguarding concerns and you are both competent parents, do you really need to? Dh and I are happily married but I’ve been travelling solo with mine since they were babies. We have a farm and it’s hard to just pack up and all go away for 2 weeks, so Dh and I often take them abroad on our own. It’s fine. You can manage it if that’s the only reason you are considering it.

Could you not team up with another single parent or take a family member? That's what my friend used to do, her mum would go with her as another adult but now she has buddied up with another single mum and they tend to book holidays together.

What’s the reason for going with ex?
