Husband is hospital - what to get for his birthday?

My husband is on a mental health ward for the foreseeable. He is suicidal. His birthday is coming up. I have no idea what to get him. He isn't easy to buy for at the best of times. I had bought him a new kitchen knife a few months ago because he kept moaning ours were blunt and I was really pleased with it but obviously that isn't happening now! I can't see there ever being a time I will feel happy giving it to him tbh. The fall back was always a nice bottle of whisky but obviously he cant have that in hospital and I'm not sure whether he can have it with whatever tablets he'll be on when he gets out. He doesn't have any hobbies and isn't interested in learning anything. He doesn't even do cakes. I've been taking in sweets when I visit but he hasn't been eating them. He specifically said no when I offered to bring him some books in. I really want to get him something nice but I dont think I can. Any ideas? He doesn't need any clothes and isn't interested in them.

Art supplies? Even if he wasn't into art before he went in - the two people who i know well who've been on mental health inpatient facilities did lots of art when in there.

I'm very sorry you are going through this. Hope he makes a full recovery

I know you say he doesn't have hobbies OP but does he like doing jigsaws ? You can get some really lovely ones.

Thanks for taking the time to reply.

No to art or jigsaws - I did suggest both but he was very dismissive. It's so frustrating because he moans he is bored but then won't try stuff. I know that is part of his illness but he was a bit like that before too tbh.

He has his phone and headset and Spotify.
