Euro Car park quandary

Can anyone advise?
I have been going to work by train recently and parking at the station car park, it's numberplate recognition. I usually put 24 hrs on as it's only £6 and I don't have a definite finishing time. I went yesterday at 8.35, charge runs til this morning 8.35?
I went 6.40 today trief to pay, but it's already paid! I can't find anything on the internet
Luckily my friend will go later and pay for today but what to do in the future?

Download the app, pay on that and then you can extend your stay if it overlaps

Perhaps someone put the wrong number plate in and accidentally paid for your car

If you've paid at 8.35 yesterday for 24 hours, then if you try to pay again at 6.40 today, then the system thinks you have nearly 2 hours parking left.

If it's numberplate recognition it could be OK as long as you pay before you leave? So if you come back at 10 pm tonight it will ask you for what you owe between 8.35 and the time you return to your car?

All car parks have different pricing structures and rules about payment, so you need to read these carefully for the car park you're using.
