Anyone else keep injuring the same hand and losing function?

Ffs, I think at some point from being clumsy I will eventually lose all feeling and functionality in my right hand?

About 20 years ago I accidentally stabbed the palm of my hand. About 6 months later I did exactly the same thing, about an inch apart.

About 25 years ago, I accidentally cut my right little finger with a razor.

Last year, I cut my right wrist... fuck knows what I cut through, it was white and quite thick. So tendon, nerve? Fuck knows

A few nights ago I cut the top of my right hand in a few places, now I can't straighten my middle finger.

From all this, I have numbness, a bit of a sharp pain when I use my right hand, and like I said, can't straighten my finger.

I've always been shite when using knives, forks, razors, needles, scissors... etc

I just want to know if anyone else is like this and can relate?

These are the major ones. There's been loads of smaller ones over the years

It doesn't sound like you've had medical treatment for these injuries? You absolutely should do.

Nah, I'm not one to go to to my GP or seek any kind of help to be honest. I just wondered if anyone else was as accident prone as me.

Thank you for your reply though, I really appreciate your answer

You are going to lose function in your hand because you won't go to the GP?

Why don't you want to go - is it that you don't like them, or prefer not to make a fuss?

I mean, I probably exaggerated, about losing functionality in my hand, so sorry about that.

My GP is absolutely fantastic, but I just won't to go and see him or any other professional. Obviously, if I managed to hack my hand off I would get it seen to, but I've always been able to tend to them myself over the years though by myself.

Thank you for your reply

So you honestly cut open your wrist, saw something white and just popped a plaster on!!!

Are you left or right handed? Do you have dyspraxia or hypermobility? The multiple injuries might be unrelated or caused my a serious medical condition. The numbness could be the start of MS. I'd certainly be seeing your GP for a start.

Why ever not?

Not hand but in my right foot. Sprained it as a teenager. Then I broke it once years ago but not treated as a break not x rayed, doctor afterwards thought a break. Broke it again 3 years later and it was treated as a break with a cast. Told to be careful on that foot as a weakness there.

Slicing through a tendon isn't a GP appointment, it's an immediate trip to A&E to get it stitched back together.

To not do so - FFS, why?

Do you have some sort of trauma? PTSD is associated with an increased risk injuries and accidents (separate from deliberate self harm, to be clear) especially around the date of the event causing the trauma.

Obviously that may not be it - and you don’t have to reply anyway but maybe have a think about it.
