Dirty holiday accommodation wwyd

Arrived on holiday at what I thought would be ideal for our family, it is absolutely filthy.
The problem is it's an air b and b type lodge in someone's garden. If I complain nothing can be rectified as it is literally falling apart and coated in grime.

Do we suck it up and try clean it as best or complain and try and find something else ? I'm absolutely gutted.

Should say I feel awkward complaining as we are staying in their garden. The company we booked it through says we have to sort first with owners.

Complain complain complain. As long as its genuinely not clean and unkempt and not just "not to your taste" or a bit run down.

I'd be booking a hotel nearby and leaving also.

Take photos and complain. Refer to what the listing aside. Ask for a partial refund, if nothing else. Do it asap.

Hi, sorry to bother you but I am not satisfied with the level of cleanliness in our accommodation (give examples). Please could xyz be rectified? If not, I really must insist on a refund so that I can find somewhere else at short notice.

If it's really that bad, get date stamped photographic evidence. You can use that to show the owners what you are complaining about. If it's really that bad and you have to leave, it may help you claim back some compensation. You can certainly use them to warn off other people on the booking website. Do you have any holiday insurance, if so, they may be able to help you.

Take photos. Make a list of what's not up to scratch. Complain politely, setting out what you'd like to happen i.e. deep clean or leave with full refund.

Update, we complained to the booking company who asked us to send photos. They then called he owners to notify that we were not happy. The owners then called us, very upset that we had done this and told us to leave and they would issue a refund this was at 9pm!!!
Luckily we hadn't unpacked much apart from the food and found different accommodation which we seemed to have hit the jackpot with.
Very stressful start to the holiday, but I feel much more relaxed in a clean environment.

Owners were probably more upset that you went running to the booking company before bothering to speak to them
