Will we get a prescription fine?!

DP just went to pick up his hayfever prescription. Ordered it on the boots online questionnaire.

However he is adamant he hasn’t paid. Hasn’t paid online and he wasn’t asked to pay in the store. Only dawned on him on way home.

He hasn’t signed a declaration for free prescriptions. He doesn’t get free prescriptions!

FFS we are going to get a fine aren’t we! I cannot afford that right now! We are going on holiday tommoz and do not have time for this!!!

No idea how this has happened and also no idea how to correct this. Any ideas?

Are boots giving out free hay fever tablets out of the goodness of their hearts?

I think you can sign up to the prescription service this evening and it will be fine . It’s around £30 for three months I think and unlimited prescriptions in that time .

SilenceInside · 08/07/2026 19:08

Have you checked the Boots account to double check it doesn’t show as paid?

Teenagerantruns · 08/07/2026 19:09

I think nobody one will notice, just go about your day.

No drama necessary, just telephone the pharmacy and clarify it with them.

Ooo good job! Great ideas guys lightbulb 💡 will check the account and then discuss with DP about signing up to the 3 month.

No need to do tgat unless you're going to get enough prescriptions to make it worthwhile

just get him to check his account & ring the pharmacy tomorrow & pay for tgem
if necessary.

Sunshineclouds11 · 08/07/2026 19:20

Just ring them tomorrow and pay over the phone if he hasn’t

Was it boots online doctor?

SNESRainbowRoad · 08/07/2026 19:24

If he goes in ASAP and tells them they should still have time to amend the prescription before it gets sent off.

Indaloo · 08/07/2026 19:45

Ok I will get him to go in first thing tomorrow. God this is not what we need before holiday. Might be easier just to buy the 3 month thing today. Will let you all know what we do!

You don't need to go in, just ring them.

are you anxious about your holiday?

Because in the nicest possible way, you are making a huge mountain out of a tiny molehill

Okay I use the boots online doctor service and I get my prescriptions from them every three weeks or so and I am charged on a set day per month. The first month the payment went out after I got my first prescription. If he’s signed up to a monthly membership thing then that’s probably what’s happened since the payment is tied to the monthly subscription not the specific prescription.

Duvetdayneeded · 10/07/2026 18:01

Go and pay and keep the receipt. It may be a few months before you get a letter.

Someone will notice. Whether they do anything about it is another matter.

I've had a letter from the PPA in Newcastle once, when the pharmacist forgot to tick the exemption box. I provided a photocopy of my PPC and that was that.

Remember the prescription has the patients name on it. And in these days of artificial intelligence it must be very easy to match scripts to payments and flag up any oddities.

Itsalittlebitwarm · 12/07/2026 18:24

If unlucky then yes they can catch us! I have a pre paid prescription and didn't realise it hadn't been automatically renewed and was fined and had to pay full costs of each item for several months. Hard lesson learnt...
