Office air con!

My office has air con but management policy is for it not to be turned on until it reaches 27°. Does anyone else feel that is too high?
At what temperature would you think it is reasonable to turn it on, and what’s your ideal temperature for it to be set to?

My office used to be ridiculous and you needed summer dresses in the winter with the heating on and winter jumpers in the summer with the Aircon on.

In an ideal world I would probably want it set to 24 and on anywhere above 24, but I know that some places recommend a higher temperature too minimise electricity usage, and I think I could cope with 27 if necessary. I do think even a degree down to 26 would make a fair difference to comfort levels though.

I find 26/27 just too hot for concentration levels. Of course I would cope if I had to but it’s just so frustrating when there is air con available. I am far less productive than when the air con is on. Air con at 24 degrees is fine, although I’d be perfectly happy with it colder! I understand monetary cost implications and environmental implications, but when I’m under huge pressure at work I need to be able to focus.

Thanks @Ineffable23, I meant to say!

I run very cold, so air con is a nightmare for me. I’d say at least 28 degrees is reasonable.

What temperature do they have it set in the winter? Suspect they have it at a more conservative 23 to save on heating costs. It could be argued that given that is an acceptable temperature for heating, it is also the acceptable temperature for cooling?
Worth noting that it costs much less to turn the AC on earlier to cool a couple of degrees and keep it there, than it does to turn it on later to cool it much lower for much longer.

I’m not actually sure what they set the temp to in winter. But it’s warm enough to wear a light blouse in the office much of the time throughout winter. The trouble is while you can add a layer if you’re chilly, there’s nothing I can do to cool down when the office is 26 degrees, I can’t remove any more layers! I find it so much harder to concentrate. There are no fans there at all.
