CIFAS protective Registration

Has anyone used the CIFAS protective Registration? Is this the best course of action if a scammer has obtained your personal details (Name, DOB, address and phone number?) I don’t think they have any financial information so I’m not sure if this is needed or not. Any other advice for this scenario? Thanks

Hi OP, yes I currently have CIFAS protective registration. I purchased it after my Microsoft account was hacked and stolen. The thieving bastards got more than enough info about me to steal my ID.

I called Action Fraud and this was one of their recommendations to protect myself. I also bought ID theft insurance which includes constant access to my credit score.

I think the peace of mind both measures provide is well worth the cost.

Thanks for the reply, that sounds like a nightmare, sorry it happened to you 😫 Did you buy it direct on the cifas website, it says it’s £30 for 2 years. I tried calling action fraud but they didn’t answer so it’s good to know this is what they recommend. I will look how to check if anyone has applied for credit, probably best I check regularly with Experian or something.
