Do you rehash your clothes if they’re outside and it rains?

Checked the weather app this morning and it said no rain, I put my washing out to dry at 12 and went out for the afternoon, of course it rained. Just got back and wondering if you wash your clothes again in this situation? Never happened to me before, I usually use my dryer but it’s just been too hot and washing has been piling up all week

Rain is nature's washing machine

HeddaGarbled · 27/06/2026 18:08

No

DirtyGertiefromno30 · 27/06/2026 18:08

No l consider it an extra rinse 🤣

ExquisiteDressing · 27/06/2026 18:12

No, this happens to us all the time.

Vroomfondleswaistcoat · 27/06/2026 18:14

No. The washing often smells nicer for having been rained on.

We quite often have “dirty” rain. When it dries on the cars, there’s always kind of dirt and sand on it. So I would gives clothes a fresh rinse in the washing machine.

Nope

Purplecatshopaholic · 27/06/2026 18:40

No.

Cotswoldmama · 27/06/2026 18:46

No, I think of it as an extra rinse

singthing · 27/06/2026 19:07

Fuck no! Why would I make entirely unnecessary extra domestic work for myself?

"I usually use my dryer but it’s just been too hot and washing has been piling up all week"

Why on earth would you even think about using a dryer in weather like this? Line dried is free, for one thing. I've been doing big stuff on purpose because it will be dry so quickly!

I never used to but the past few years the marks the rain leaves on my table and car looks dirty and filthy so now I begrudgingly do.

If it’s wet for a short period and is going to be sunny/windy afterwards, I leave it. If the weather looks crappy, I’ll bring it in and dry it. It would have to have been wet for some time for me to decide to rewash it.

No, rained on clothes smell lovely.
