Planning permission for aircon installation

Hi does anyone know if you need planning permission for aircon installation? We have a detached house and our condenser is 90 cm by 90 cm. It is also within 1 metre boundary - from the sides of a detached house.

Even if technically you do (which is unlikely on the side of your house assuming it's not listed) but depends to some extent on local plan policies, then the likelihood of enforcement is tiny provided it is not visible from the front and doesn't cause nuisance to your neighbour.
