Being vague but been told i might have a claim and i don't know what to do. had lifesaving surgery after an extended stay in hospital and negligence in care. has anyone done this? the limitation date is in a year so i need to decide whether to do it and if i do then who with.

I’m in the process, it’s very long and surprisingly emotionally difficult. This is for a birth injury. The first step would be contacting a solicitor to see if they will take on your case. If they won’t then you are unlikely to win.

I did, on behalf of my son who was left disabled as a result of mishandling during birth.

It took several years but he was awarded several hundred thousand pounds.

thank you both and im sorry you have had to do this. do you have particular recommendations as to who to contact and the process? it was 2 years ago and so i undersrtand i only have a year for it to be followed up but i don't even know if that is long enough. my consultant recommmended i go through PALS about 18 months ago because he sdaid tehre were failings but i was still so traumatised that i couldn't face the emotional toll. its only now i feel strong enough to consider it.

Check your house insurance, mine covers negligence. - I’m 6 years into my claim and hoping for a resolution this year.
