I’m 54 now (yikes) but many, many years ago I had a ‘boyfriend’. When I was 6 or 7 😂. Think Forrest Gump and Jenny as kids - that was us. He taught me how to ride my bike without stabilisers and we were inseparable. I have a photo of us, taken at Scarborough, back in the 1970’s. Anyway, we were parted as his dad got another job and the family were moved to Bradford. I was, apparently, devastated. And life went on but I often thought about what happened to him and where he was now.
Anyway, about 8 months ago, I’d spotted a photo of a class of children from my old primary school - a photo taken in 1977. I was there that year and about the same age as the children in the photo. I recognised a couple of the children and the teachers. I am convinced one of the girls is me, but the picture isn’t very clear. I showed it to my sister-in-law (who has known me since I was born) and she didn’t think it was me. However, I think it is. One
of the girls I recognised was called Tina. Her mum actually commented saying that it was her daughter, Tina. I replied (with an anonymous name) to check if her surname was what I thought it was but I didn’t get a reply.
So, came across this post again today and scrolled down the newer comments to see if anyone else had added any names to the faces. Lo and behold, this boy (who will
always be a boy to me, but will now be a 54 year old man) had added a comment saying he was at the school that year but wasn’t in the photo. He must have joined the page, even though he has lived away for many years. He doesn’t have a profile pic but his name is unusual so I knew it was him. I checked his profile and it looks like his location is now York.
I am so tempted to message him to see if he was the boy who moved to Bradford. Do you think it’s a bit weird?!! Will he think I’m a freak?!
