We are off down to London this weekend, any guidance greatly appreciated, we are travelling from Marylebone to Stratford and back. I have contactless she doesn’t.

You can still buy a physical ticket from a machine, so I suggest she does this.

She doesn't have a debit or credit card?

Anyway - she can get a travelcard from the ticket office or machine.

Treat her to a black taxi

Alternatively you can buy a visitor Oyster card online and load money into it

A daily zone 1 to 2 travel card should do it.

She can buy a ticket with cash or card and all stations. But if she's using a card for that, she can tap it on the entry machines too.

Its not contactless, apparently. A paper ticket from the machine will do it. Stratford is zones 2/3 so she'll be fine with a paper daily travel card for 1/2 if she's not going further out.

Can she borrow one of your cards?

AltitudeCheck · 11/05/2026 16:23

I let my mum use my debit card for the afternoon and I used my phone.
