There are no ghosts or demons in your room.

You say you have had hallucinations in the past, do you have a diagnosis.

Joanneken · 11/05/2026 00:11

Omg, they're gonna get youuuuuuu!

Tiredmum93 · 11/05/2026 00:16

lol had no diagnosis. Was terrified as a child of sleeping in the dark. Anyway I have type one diabetes life is stressful atm with work. But yeah two white womens looking like statues came out my ceiling. Maybe it’s after seeing Heidi Klums outfit for the met gala lol

also been reading a book called the graveyard book, been thinking about my dead relatives a lot, meh, would of been nice to be properly visited not terrified to sleep

With your repeated use of ‘lol’ I can’t tell if you are actually joking or if you really do believe that you are seeing those things.

Tiredmum93 · 11/05/2026 00:20

yeah I’m just wondering if it’s sleep hallucinations or ghosts who knows either way was terrifying

Blimms · 11/05/2026 00:23

Well, it’s definitely not ghosts. Maybe try and get some sleep.

CombatBarbie · 11/05/2026 00:25

Sounds like you are subconsciously over thinking, possibly with some sleep paralysis thrown in too which can be bloody terrifying.

MilkyLeonard · 11/05/2026 00:41

You’ve had a very vivid dream. I’ve been there and it’s scary. But there’s no such thing as ghosts.

DearTealMember · 11/05/2026 01:34

Sleep paralysis does this to me but I can’t move for a few seconds either. Can you move straight away?

Yeah, I've had that many times, the halfway world between awake and sleep. You know you're awake and the dreams are nonsense but when you try to wake and call foul on them you're unable too. Very discombobulating.

I had one the other night, my dog lying in bed between my DH and I, digging her feet in my back. But it wasn't the last dog I had, it was the dog of my children's childhood. She's been gone for 20 years. I was glad to hear and feel her for a moment before my brain went WTF.
The brain is amazing.

Scary nightmare can seem so real and sometimes takes a minute to wake up. Sometimes I get up and make a cup of tea and watch something to shake off the creepy feeling.

Tiredmum93 · 11/05/2026 07:32

Had sleep paralysis once or twice. I could move I jump up everytime it’s like they’re hovering over me. Each time a different kind of ghost. This time they were white, last time cream with weird arms, time before a black and red mask hovering, etc someone had brown pants next to me and I screamed at them hahaha I’m so tired

Yes, paralyzing nightmares are the ones that seem real. When it eases a bit, don't laugh, but I get my bible and hold it. I have been an atheist for years but this helps go back to sleep.

Itsnaptime · 11/05/2026 08:30

I have this too. Always happens when my anxiety is really bad and I'm not sleeping well

Pricelessadvice · 11/05/2026 09:06

I have narcolepsy and suffer hallucinations as a result of going in and out of REM too quickly. Sounds similar.

Zov · 11/05/2026 09:07

I'm not a disbeliever, but could it be a dream lol?

Chiefangel · 11/05/2026 09:29

Sounds like hypnagogic hallucinations to me.

Zhu · 11/05/2026 09:33

I also get this if I wake up suddenly. It's almost like an after image, just lasts a few seconds then it goes. Thankfully I don't scream. I have a repeated one of a giant spider, but have occasionally had people or faces.

I’ve had this sort of thing in the past. I know it’s not “real” but I’ve always found it incredibly comforting. The brain really is amazing the way it remembers every little detail of how a loved one looked and sounded.

Deadleaves77 · 11/05/2026 09:37

They definitely aren't ghosts
I think this sort of nightmare/sleep paralysis is normal. It's just a very vivid dream that carries on even though you've started to wake up. I get it when I'm particularly stressed or anxious or if I'm not sleeping very well

keepswimming38 · 11/05/2026 09:39

Sleep paralysis probably. Hallucinations can be part of that. Apparently more common if you have ADHD ( so my daughter was told after she had sleep studies)

WildGarden · 11/05/2026 09:42

Not weird arms!!😱I was thinking it was a dream until that point.

Yes, the cream Heidi Klum one with weird arms is a well known demon. The way to get rid of her is to chant Seal songs.

Seriously OP, just stop reading the scary books and do sleep well.

Ohpleeeease · 11/05/2026 10:14

There are no such things as ghosts. They do not exist. Same with UFOs and “angels”. These things are made up by people to give their lives more drama and excitement, or as a means to exploit the vulnerable.

Make yourself a hot drink and listen to a podcast instead.

Tiredmum93 · 11/05/2026 10:46

Thank you all.
