Using a digital download to order a poster - anyone done this?

Sorry, possibly a stupid question, but has anyone ordered a digital download of an image from say, Etsy, and then ordered it as a poster from Snapfish or similar?
If so, is it a clear image? Does it work properly?

It'll depend on the quality of the download, and what size it is, dpi (dots per inch). It should tell you how many dpi before you buy the file
