My ds age 19 was born in uk living with us in Ireland and wants to apply for a Irish passport.
His grandparents my parents are Irish, I was born in uk and have a Irish passport but my ds has to get it through his grandparents therefore has to go through the foreign birth register.
I have had a look through the foreign births site and it seems they need so many documents, I need a photocopy of my passport as ID and have to have it certified..do I get the witness to write their details on my photocopy?
It says the form is online so I can’t actually get a form for someone to certify that..so I’m presuming it’s just the photocopy I get them certify
Has anyone done this and could explain your process please

Please check as may have changed since I did it, but not just anyone can certify, they have to be from certain professions. Yes they can just sign, print their name and occupation, and date the photocopied documents. Yes a huge number of documents are needed! It takes a long time.

@OnARainyDay2012Hi how long did the process take for you? As I’m in Ireland I was thinking I could get the Garda to certify it.. thanks for confirming it’s the photocopies the witness would sign
