Present dilemma

Hi. I’ve been with ‘D’H since my late teens and we’re coming up to our 30th wedding anniversary.

We should have separated years ago but for one reason or another, we didn’t. We sleep in separate rooms (we both snore!) but we rub along together and have joint finances/mortgage together etc. It just works right now.

Anyway, we’re approaching our 30th wedding anniversary and even though we don’t usually make much effort with presents these days, I’d like to buy him something.

Im looking for something maybe a bit different. Not a keyring or beer/champagne glasses etc because that’s already been done previously.
I don’t fancy going away together because like I said, we sleep in different rooms.

I’d ideally like something to keep but that’s not set in stone but not just ‘tat’ for want of a better word. I’m trying to declutter!

He drives for a living. He kind of likes the garden but not overly. He’s not really into any specific music. Doesn’t really have any hobbies (apart from watching bloody mindless YouTube videos) He’s so difficult to buy for!

So could anyone give me some inspiration or links etc?

Oh and he’s not into fashion, or skincare or bloody anything it would seem!!!! 🤣

Please help if you can

What about some fancy (apple?) headphones for when he is watching YouTube ?

HeddaGarbled · 17/04/2026 19:50

Watch?

OneNewEagle · 17/04/2026 19:57

I’d buy a 30th anniversary rose or roses for the garden, I know they exist as I’ve bought one for a friend. And an arch to grow them over with a bench under.

if not that a self catering 2 bed cottage so you have your own rooms.

He tends to watch the videos in his car. He’s a taxi driver, so I don’t think he’d use them but thank you for the idea!

Watch?

I bought him one a few years ago. He wore it for a bit and now I have absolutely no idea where it is!
He’s so difficult!

Thanks. I’ve thought about a rose, so that’s a good idea.
I’m just not sure about going away together but as long as we had separate rooms we’d probably be ok!
He’s self employed, so any time he’s not working, he’s not earning money. I’m not sure how he’d feel about that but he’d probably be ok lol.

Just bumping this to see if anyone has any idea what to buy a nigh on impossible to buy for man who isn’t into much. Preferably something connected to pearl, although doesn’t have to as I’m getting desperate! TIA

Would you say your relationship is like a deep friendship, family? If it's still meaningful to you both, what about something that symbolises your first meeting or wedding anniversary in some way?

ohwhattodo4 · 18/04/2026 11:41

Yes I suppose so. We’ve been through an awful lot together. We met as college students when we both had a Saturday job in a supermarket. How romantic! I think we’ve just grown apart but stayed together if that makes sense?

What about a personalised number plate depicting your wedding date/month.

MidnightFanta · 18/04/2026 13:55

Really nice leather driving gloves?
Although I suppose that with heated steering wheels these are a vanishing breed.

Clementine12 · 18/04/2026 14:03

Tickets to see a band or comedian? Or other event like a food festival etc?

Tiredforfive45 · 18/04/2026 14:05

Digital photo frame pre-loaded with photos of your life together over the last 30 years?

MidnightFanta · 18/04/2026 14:59

How about a fountain or water feature for in the garden?

Unfortunately can’t do this as he drives for a living and the rules are very strict. Good idea though!

I was thinking along the lines of a named rose or something similar. Thanks!

Another good idea, thanks. We’ve been thinking of buying solar fountain, so that’s worth looking into.

A divorce 😜

Sorry, but I do think it’s pointless. Buy him a present anytime by all means, but it seems like a kick in the teeth to do it for your wedding anniversary.

Why do you think it’s pointless? Like I said, we rub along ok. We’ve just been together since we were 18, so understandably, our relationship has changed hugely over time and he’s done some hurtful things but 🤷🏻‍♀️
I still think it’s worth marking 30 years+ of being together.

An experience/day out? Helicopter flight? Tank driving? Trip to formula 1 race?

He’d definitely like an F1 race. I’ll look into that.

I was going to suggest this . I love mine so much I bought another one . So relaxing to sit out listening to them in the summer .

ohwhattodo4 · 01/05/2026 16:20

So, I have bought him a rose that he can plant called Pearl Abundance and a book mark (he reads a lot) that is silver because apparently that’s the modern day 30th wedding anniversary (who knew? I didn’t) that has pearls and his initial.
I wasn’t convinced that he’d even remember it was our 30th but I now know that he does lol!
Should I buy him something else?
Something meaningful? Some chocolate? He doesn’t really drink alcohol very often.
Have I done enough?!!!

Any thoughts?!
