So I had a message from my father tonight, I feel shocked and happy.

Glad you had a comforting moment this evening. Regardless if it is real or not, it’s good that you felt reassured that he is ok and his passing wasn’t awful how you imagined. Find comfort where you can at this difficult time. And your dad is with you, right behind you, wherever you go - his memory is alive in you. You know exactly what he’d say and what he’d wish for you, it’s all in you.

My sister was a medium.

To answer your question, you can't. He might want to contact you again, or he might have said what he needed you to hear, his last act of reassurance to his child before he moves on.

Let him go?

When you say before he moves on, where do they move on too?

If I knew that I'd write a book and makeva lot of money.

@TransportNerd how can you be so sure all of them are con artists?

Look at Derren Brown doing cold readings on YouTube

Because once somebody dies they are not able to communicate with anyone. Nor do they want or need to. They cease to exist. They are free of responsibility, free of pain. Just like being asleep forever.

Please don't give anyone any money who alleges they can communicate with the deceased. It's a scam. It's a disgrace and it's abusing the bereaved.

Why on earth do people come onto the Paranormal board to shit all over peoples beliefs and experiences, and tell them it's all nonsense and rubbish, and all in their imagination? If people don't 'believe' then why are they even on the board? Confused

That's like me jumping onto the 'childfree by choice' board and giving a bunch of reasons why people should choose to have children, and that they're 'wrong' to choose to not have them! It's such rude and arrogant behaviour. How DARE people tell others that their experience is fake/invalid/not real, and that it's all rubbish?! Hmm

@Touty I don't think that you can make your father show himself or guarantee he will appear again, but I wish you all the luck in the world in seeing him again. Ignore the naysayers! You know what you saw. Flowers

Why on earth do people come onto the Paranormal board to shit all over peoples beliefs and experiences ...?

Because threads all appear in the one big board of Active Convos, which is how very many users browse the site. And because topics aren't fenced silos that you aren't allowed into unless you have a certain attitude. Provided they do so politely, anyone is perfectly entitled to say that they don't believe this to have been a genuine communication from beyond the grave.

Naturally some topics are intended for people discussing certain difficult situations (eg the bereavement topic), But a topic called 'the paranormal' is absolutely open to people who don't believe in it as much as those who do.

Regarding the content of the OP, I'd say the medium was on to a pretty safe bet when she guesssed that the daughter may have been worried about the moment of this person's death and whether he was distressed. Don't we all think this about a loved person's death. And, similarly, the advice the medium communicated was something that every parent would endorse.

I’m very neutral on the subject. There are defintely scammers and “ readers” etc out there but the fact that it can be faked is not the same thing as all mediums are fakes. My mum went with her bereaved friend to see a medium and ended up getting a reading herself that was so oddly specific it’s hard to explain. ( pre internet days) and the guy didn’t even charge. I’ve also been to a spiritualist church and heard absolute nonsense but I’m still open to the idea.

OP you’re the person going through this. If it provides comfort and reassures you does it actually matter if anyone else believes it? Perhaps the messages for other people will also provide some comfort for you even if your Dad does not come through again. I’m pretty sure my Dad wouldn’t bother to make the psychic journey to talk to me but this is made up for the fact my mum would not shut up.
