What is your most genuinely frightening paranormal or haunted experience?

Im bored - I wanna be terrified. Give me your honest to god truthful terrifying haunted experience.

Not a knock in the night but a full apparition scare the S**t out of you level.

If anyone watches Help! My house is haunted, they’ll recognise all of the above as typical of certain ghost behaviours or imps (the demonic ones)

I don't share this story often as frankly it's a mad one and if I were someone else, I also wouldn't believe me before it happened to me. This didn't frighten me, it actually fascinated me but it was just weird, and I've had a lot of paranormal experiences.

So over a decade ago now I went to a pub meal for a family member's birthday meal. Bear in mind I was 16 at the time, had just turned up at this pub so no alcohol or anything was involved here.

After I walked into the pub, greeted family and whilst my mum was sorting out our drinks, I looked opposite and noticed there was a man sat at a table with a pint reading a newspaper with his dog on the floor next to him. Within a few moments of looking at this man and his dog, they simply both vanished and were replaced by these 2 ladies in early 1900's clothing with big hats on, and on the table were two old fashioned newspapers with a teacup and saucer each infront of them and a multi tier cake stand. They were chatting and laughing to each other, I got the feeling they were friends? They never acknowledged me, it was like watching a black and white replay film infront of me. Within a few seconds they vanished and it all went back to normal with the man drinking his pint reading his (modern day) newspaper, and his dog beside him. When we went and got seated in another room to eat a few minutes later, the placemats got put down and they were all pictures of the pub and the outside of it in the 1900's, and the women in the placemat pictures were dressed in the exact sort of attire I literally just saw the two ladies in.

I promise this is 100% real. Nobody else experienced this or at least has ever mentioned it to my knowledge.

Not a popular MN opinion but I’m largely of the most ghosts are fine and I’m happy to co exist and not easily scared mentality. Our house is old and busy place and all are welcome but firmly told this is my home now so behave. Generally when any act up and mess about with the lights or bang upstairs a “quit it” or “not now” does the trick, but most of them are welcome. My DH’s late father is a fairly regular and can be anything from the smell of his pipe smoke to an apparition. His father (DH’s grandfather) too occasionally will be around in the bedroom he passed in. We also have a mirror lady who came with an antique mirror left to DHs mum, I set her up by the door as she’s very protective of my DDs and Dd2’s room has a man with a tall top hat, he likes messing around with the bathroom lights and banging the spare room door.
The only actual terrifying one was when Dd1 was little and she had a very very tall dark shadow man appearing in her room and sitting on her bed at night and terrifying her, the energy in her room changed completely even during the day it was freezing. She was so upset and said he had “scared old daddy away” When I asked her what she meant she showed me a picture of DH’s dad and said he won’t come in and tell stories anymore. We moved her to our room and we evicted him sharpish but he was a scary one! I did my thing (clues in the username but my DSis used holy water too to be doubly sure). Ended up she never used that room again though.

Pretty much the same here. My home can be very active at times but I've been more startled by a sudden event than actually frightened.

My cousin died of cot death when I was a child. On the night she died, my older cousin (her sister) had gone up to bed, but then came running down the stairs to let my aunt and uncle know that Grandad was upstairs (he’d died several years earlier).
