Hearing a voice

A close (elderly) relative has heard a voice a few times now, addressing her by name and telling her not to worry, that they will be looking after her.

She has taken this to mean that the end is near and they (whoever the voice is) will be helping her in the afterlife.
My relative is not at all interested in the spiritual, is not religious either. She's also never heard anything like this before, or had hallucinations. She knows this voice is in her mind but also that it isn't her.
She doesn't have a great health, but is relatively ok, going out and doing her every day activities as normal. Then suddenly the voice coming in.
I have read books and seen documentaries on people who have seen/spoken with beings who have subsequently come to "collect" them at time of death (e g. deceased loved ones, angels, religious figures) and I believe their experiences to be real, despite often being dismissed as delirium/vivid dreams/hallucinations.
I am now worrying about my relative as we don't live near each other and I'm not able to see her often. I just can't shake thoughts of the above.
Has anyone here experienced or witnessed anything similar?

Is she always at home during this?

This sounds quite different and besides she doesn't live alone, the other family members would have been affected too.

Re: UTI theory, she has none of the symptoms, so very unlikely.

Hearing voices is a symptom...
It is lovely to think of comfort from the afterlife but where the elderly are concerned please please run a medical check; intervention doesn't have to be painful or invasive, can be quite simple.

I was sitting on the garden wall of a friend who had just died. Her husband was still inside with the ambulance crew about to take her body away. I heard her voice very clearly say "Hello?" in a surprised tone.

I'd agree, I know that this is on the paranormal board, and that the OP is leaning towards paranormal/supernatural explanations. But if the cause is a UTI then treatment could save quite a lot of suffering, and if it turns out that there is no medical cause then you will at least help to confirm the belief that this is communication from beyond the grave.

A friend heard the shuffling steps of the recently deceased elderly relative she used to care for, who wore slippers around the house, and then heard her name called twice. Her mother also heard it and sharply told her "Don't answer that at all!"

Sometimes they want 'company'. Sometimes something pretending to be them wants 'company'...

IMO the fact that this was in a dream not when she was conscious means it's probably not a cause for concern or anything paranormal

My cat is missing. The first night I went out looking for her after dark. Everything was silent, then I heard a lady say my name. But not the name people around here know me by, it was my full name (not the short version). Then silence. I recognised the voice but could not recall who it belonged to, just I knew it was someone I used to see regularly, in the past. I wish they’d said more… like maybe told me where to find my cat 😔
