I know it sounds odd/woo but ever since I've been a child I've felt really at home in Georgian properties, I don't live in one mores the pity but when I enter one I have such a strong feeling of being at home if that makes sense? I don't get it with any other period of house, Victorian, Tudor etc, sometimes I think I'm a bit odd, but the pull towards the Georgian era is very strong. We went to a Georgian stately home last summer and I didn't want to leave, I almost felt relieved to be there. Ok I'm probably mad I know!

1950's for me. I just love the cars, the fashion, the homes.

ItsAHardKn0ckLife1 · 16/05/2020 22:34

Me me me! I have had a fascination with the Victorian times since I was a small child. In particular the homes, jobs and fashion.

Disclaimer: I am also probably a bit weird.

Have you ever visited Beamish Museum? You might like Smile

Gin4thewin · 16/05/2020 22:35

I thought i was a knut for feeling like this! Tudors, always found the time period fascinating and a familiarity to it

Teddy1970 · 16/05/2020 22:37

Oh thank god it's not just me! I wonder what makes us feel like this? Yes, we went to the British Museum last summer and loved it.

40s for me :)

Teddy1970 · 16/05/2020 22:50

I was really hesitant posting this in case everyone thought I'm weird, so glad I'm not the only one, it's interesting reading about other posters pulls towards other time periods.

I had a fascination for the 1940’s but I work for the NHS and both my daughters are critical care nurses so I kinda feel I know the reality of that period now.

thesunwillout · 16/05/2020 22:55

Early 1960's.
I've always thought I was in the wrong era.
I want to be my parents age, so born just after the war.

AntiHop · 16/05/2020 22:57

Yes! Early 20th century Russia. I've been really lucky to be able to visit Russia and museums there.

Goawayquickly · 16/05/2020 23:00

The 40's. Its late and I'm not sure I could explain properly but I occasionally get flashes of vague memory only it's not exactly that but just a familiar feeling at certain songs or clothes or language but more oddly packaging. I'm not making sense but I know what I mean Smile

Teddy1970 · 16/05/2020 23:00

Wow, thanks everyone, born in the wrong era (didn't think of it like that) or reincarnation? Makes you wonder doesn't it? Sorry, that's an extra helping of woo there..

I kind of know what you mean Goawayquickly.. although trying to explain to anyone else just wouldn't get it. Early 20th century Russia AntiHop that is so random, do any of your family come from those parts?

Victorian for me but especially with houses. Lucky to live in one now and I just love imagining all the history of the place

Imahappycamper101 · 16/05/2020 23:11

I have always had a fascination with Victorian time, I had a school project when I was younger and I was in my element. I would have loved to have lived in that era, as an upper class family of course Wink

CeibaTree · 16/05/2020 23:11

Late 1960's for me. Always been fascinated by the hippie trail from a very young age.

EastBoundAndDown · 16/05/2020 23:12

Yes! Don't know which era but I have a 'thing' about Texas and those massive oil drilling machines! Almost like a memory Confused

Teddy1970 · 16/05/2020 23:15

thesunwillout go on to Youtube and check out 1967 London street scenes with added colour and sound, they're incredible it's just like you're there, ok I know its not the early sixties but it's a brilliant piece of film, it's just like going back in time, I couldn't stop watching it..

@Gin4thewin Tudor for me too. Felt that way since I was very young.

Teddy1970 · 16/05/2020 23:28

Thanks everyone, great reading about everyones preferred period in time. I wonder what draws us towards them? I've often thought about it but don't really have any non woo ideas.

@Teddy1970

Thanks for the YouTube suggestion.

I love victorian women. Its just weird but I find them extremely erotic

Cattermole · 26/05/2020 15:51

1640s. Am pretty sure I lived in, and died during, the Civil Wars, in a very specific place. (I moved there about 20 years ago and terrified the life out of myself by recognising the place where past-me died despite having never been there - it looked "wrong", as if there was something missing. I found out a year or so back that the landmark past-me remembered had been there at that time but then later been destroyed. It wasn't at all exciting or glamorous, and I don't think I was anybody famous...)

ginandbearit · 19/06/2020 22:38

As a very young child I remember seeing nazi memorabillia captured by a family member during the war . It was as if i received an electric shock, instant recognition and a sense of ' belonging' to it , and through childhood to early teens felt drawn to it ( not the beliefs but the familiarity of the uniforms and a strong sympathy for the soldiers) ..I was a member of cnd and left leaning activism .. if there is such a thing as reincarntion , in my last life I was one of the baddies .

Mollypolly2610 · 21/06/2020 23:24

I used to have a lot of dreams and got a funny feeling when i saw films featuring who I thought I had been. i was always a waitress with the frilly apron and cap during WW2. i was always serving nazis in the restaurant.
