Has anyone ever had an NDE(Near Death Experience) or an Outer body experience?
I'm interested in these so just wondering if any mumsnetters out there have had any.

I had a NDE on the operating table during a problematic c-section. It changed my complete outlook on life. I had never heard of out of body experiences before then, but afterwards I looked into it a great deal and it is a very interesting topic to me.

The Monroe Institute is the most popular resource for these sorts of things. Books by Bob Monroe, Robert Campbell (My Big ToE) and also Graham Nicholls amongst others

Justinecase wow that's fascinating. What happened if you don't mind me asking? Thanks for the references. I think it's a very interesting topic too.

I saw myself on the table and watched the c section. I was bleeding badly and they couldn't stop it. Baby came out, and I felt a tug or nudge (best I can describe it) to either go back into body or go somewhere else. I chose my body. I did not experience bright lights or tunnels or anything, but i do not discount those that do experience them as everyone's brain filter is different

It’s called an out of body experience...

Gileswithachainsaw · 21/09/2017 23:08

I'm not sure if I have had an.out of body experience or not.

It was dark so I couldn't see myself if that makes sense.

I was crawling through a very dark tunnel it was quite a tight space other people were there and I remember suddenly just feeling odd. Like I wasn't there like it wasn't me talking or crawling I didn't know if I could move as I couldn't feel the weight of my limbs as I tried..

It was all so strange

I wasn't scared or panicked or claustrophobic or anythung I was perfevtky happy when it happens it was just as if I felt myself leave

I vaguely watched a program about it years ago. I think the doctor or scientist was thinking about doing an experiment where he was going to place an object up high on a shelf in the operating theatre, it couldn't be seen from the ground at all, then if anyone had an experience he could ask them about whether they saw it or not. Wonder if he ever did it.

Bumping for more possible experiences

No personal experiences, but these could be of interest.

Peace, was it this type of thing?

Google for the Koren helmet and Michael Persinger's 'God Helmet' to see the effect of altering magnetic fields had on some peoples' brains.

Hi I know this is a few weeks old now but I had a Near death experience once. Not a super exciting one I should say but I would like to share it anyway.

A good few years back I was in my local with DH (DP at the time) it was mid week after work and not too busy - maybe 10 or so people in. Anyway as would happen sometimes, someone bought a curry and some chapattis for sharing. I took a bit of bread and scooped up what I though was just sauce. Turned out there was a big chunk of lamb on it and it got wedged in my throat.

I couldn't breath and the people around me thought I was turning red and grabbing at my throat because it was spicy, they didn't know I was choking. They where laughing and I realised they weren't going to help. I walked outside for some reason and just sat down on the ground. I still couldn't breath. I remember thinking I was going to die and felt really calm and peaceful. Just accepting that this was it and I was ok with it.

One of the people from the pub came running out and gave me a whack on the back which dislodged the food and I could breath again.

The whole thing was only a minute or so but felt like 5/10 to me. Like the world was in slow motion. The man that ran out after me was at the other end of the pub and watched it happen. He said he had witnessed his younger brother choke and die many years ago and no one had realised what was happening until it was too late. He was just tuned into what it looked like (much like most people don't realise a drowning person is silent and can't scream for help like on tv/movies).

Not sure if that's the sort of thing you are looking for OP, no out of body part for me but most definitely a very calm/ peaceful feeling. I'm sure there would be a scientific/ medical explanation for that- maybe lack of oxygen or something?
