My niece is horse mad and been loaning a pony for £25 a week and she helps with the mucking out and can ride when hes free which is not very often

My dad pays it and said hes thinking of buying her a pony for herself. We wondered what the costs would be? Anyone help as we have been quoted some different amounts

I wouldn't put a child on a stallion, it would just seem too risky, but I'm not the worlds most knowledgable.

Yes, stallion bit was worrying me too, and I know nothing about horses.

chocolate peanut.. I would suggest she looks for another loan. £25 a week is a lot with work for limited riding.

Always lots of people looking for help exercising.

put adverts up in local tack shop, explore horse message boards..

As for shetland stallion.. I wouldn't with a child.

Has your firend got a secure field to keep him in away from mares and geldings.. bearing in mind the escapate artists they are.

Where are you? - you'll get lots of offers, I'm sure!

I think not, only an electric wire. Not looking good.

Dad bought her a miniature shetland stallion this week in a stable just round the corner so she does everything

He is too small to ride and is very very tame. My kids have been around him and hes very gentle. The prev owner owns the stables and gave him up as she felt he was getting neglected as she has other horses and foals. She said he is very well behaved and no point gelding but he cant be turned out with the mares atm so we are thinking of it as he seems lonely

He loves the attention he is getting off the kids though

we are paying 15 a week for stable
5 a week for hay
14 a month ins

not sure what feed was but know it was cheapish

everyone is made up with him!

Racing snake, don't get a stallion. If your friend has two mares, your kids can't really ride together, if a mare is in season, stallions are pretty single minded! Get another mare or gelding, and your friend can find a stud! It's not worth the risk with little kids!
Chocolate peanut, GELD IT! See above, I have replied to your post on other thread, but want to add, let it live out, if you have grass, you won't need hay or feed. Mine live out 24/7 and unless it's snowing, rarely get hay, and feed even more rarely! A mineral lick is advisable, but you must keep their weight under control.
