Jodphur boots

I want to buy my dd some jodphur boots as she wants to start riding, but since she may not keep it up I only want to buy them off ebay at first.

Problem is, she has v wide feet (G fitting) - does anyone know any brand that comes up quite wide?

TIA

Lovesons were the cheapy boots we always bought when DD was litle but not sure about wide fitting sorry. Maybe go to a shop first to try on then look around?

DS has very wide feet and wears Dublins. I tried them in in the tack shop, and then bought some second hand on ebay

Thanks CMOT (you seem to be my inadvertent shopping guru ATM ) - DS is finally growing out of his jodphur boots having slopped around in them for the first 12 months ( - I don't know what happened there - they seemed OK when he tried them on) and I was wondering where to source some cheap ones to fit his H-width fitting feet. Is it just me or is the sizing in general absolutely all over the place vs. shoes?

CMOTdibbler · 01/04/2010 14:42

Shoes are weird. Where do you go for normal shoes btw ? We are schlepping to Rugby to go to a great indpendant that does Ricosta, but if theres somewhere nearer, that would be fab

Without going second hand, you can't get much cheaper than Countrywide - I have their wn brand jodphur boots and they are wide and not bad at all for the price

Did you phone the bathroom people ?

I filled in their 'contact us' page and haven't heard anything back yet.

Ordinary shoes we go to Elts - choice is limited but their fitters are really good.

CMOTdibbler · 01/04/2010 14:57

I'd go up and tell them to ring you but 'can you ring my possibly hairy trucker friend who lives somewhere in N Worcs' might sound a bit odd !

Elts don't have anything that fits DS's awkward feet - apart from crocs.

Am not looking forward to finding school acceptable trainers and shoes. Plain black, no coloured stitching or decorations at all - this isn't going to be fun

stealthsquiggle · 01/04/2010 15:07

Indeed

CMOTdibbler · 01/04/2010 15:13

Ah yes, its the wide and high instep that does it isn't it ? DS gets it from DH. He can sort of do laces now, but school uniform list specifically says velcro for trainers - they may have to live with it though.

stealthsquiggle · 01/04/2010 15:17

I have ordered in H fitting trainers to a Clarks shop for DS before now and they have been OK (going up 1/2 a size) but I given a bit more time I would have got Elts to order them in as I really don't trust the fitters in Clarks. If you can get any, velcro definitely easier for trainers otherwise they tend to end up being last getting changed.

CMOTdibbler · 01/04/2010 15:24

Will put it on my list of things to do - which includes remembering to go to the second hand uniform sale to defray the cost a bit

That one is on my list too - both DC change schools in September and we are going away for last 2 weeks of holiday so it has to be done before the end of next term.
