I'd like to take dd on a riding holiday weekend where we can ride on a beach

...she is 10 and has been riding at stables since she was 6, I had ponies until I was in my twenties but don't ride now.

We'd like to go for a weekend somewhere, both ride out, maybe get to ride on a beach, somewhere in the uk.

Do any of you know any B&B-with-riding-school-attached sort of places? Maybe in Yorkshire, or Norfolk?

I've tried googling but can only find places where you take your own horse.

We don't have any!

I used to ride a Highland Garron who was as wide as he was tall - and couldn't jump for peanuts, but had a lovely rolling canter.

His tail touched the ground. He died when I was 18.

Is Wales of any interest?

DD1 (9) rode here last summer and had an absolute ball. They also have a photographer accompany the ride and we got some delicious photographs.

There are loads of adverts in the current 'Your Horse' (sorry I can't link, I don't know how to do it. These all mention riding on the beach:

Lake district 01229 770876 www.murthwaitegreen.co.uk

Beachcomber are advertising as well!

If you can get to North Devon there are a few riding stables that take you for rides on Woolacombe beach which is fantastic.

Have a look here for holidays in the UK:

Gomez - my friends run Nolton stables! Small world, etc.

This is me and my dad taking DH out - splashing about in the sea is one of my favourite things

meltedmarsbars · 10/04/2010 18:02

That looks fantastic - I am soooo jealous!

Nolton Stables were just on Country Tracks on BBC1 - good bit of footage! Go and watch it on the iPlayer if you missed it You'll notice the presenter is riding Speckles - my DH is on him in the photo I linked to earlier!

I am feeling nearly famous watching my friends on the telly

Would it be smug of me to mention in passing, that the farm where we keep our ponies has it's own beach? Sorry if it is, we haven't been there long, and I'm still excited.

jurisfictionoperative · 17/04/2010 11:12

Ps, have ridden on woolacombe beach, it is to be recommended. Xxx

(Apparently) Riding is not allowed on Norfolk beaches in the summer months (fyi).
