ok, who else is on this! I spotted ski horse on another thread - I am adding my hopeful name (not actually told anyone -except dh of course- in RL as had miscarriage a couple of months ago so staying a bit cautious. ) Also want to enjoy riding lessons for a bit more time without getting lots of are you sure you should be comments! hopefully due in July. Bangs goes booking a holiday to a nice looking place that had its own riding school then as did that once before at 7 months pregnant and it was torture seeing all the horses and not being able to ride!

congratulations! how exciting (am trying to cope with intense broodiness at the moment so should probably steer well clear of this thread)

horseymum · 24/11/2009 16:33

well, was either going to be baby number three or new horse - not sure which will be easier! Baby cheaper to start with but more long term commitment! Actually horse might be easier as can choose things like enger, temperament, ability!!

Blimey! So that's four of us now for July alone! (iggypiggy and wickedwitchsouthwest are the other two that I know nof)

I'm still riding too but I'm going to stop hacking out with others so I can go at my own pace. I was still galloping and jumping at the weekend but because I was on my own I felt quite confident.

My yard has just booked a 3 day trip to the coast with the horses... I don't want to tell them yet and so I'm having to pretend I'm really looking forward to riding on the beach even though it's not going to be realistic by April. I'll just be sat on the sofa crying.

horseymum · 24/11/2009 20:33

oops, I meant to say gender! Sorry you will miss your trip, sounds fun! I think I will just carry on as normal just now ie about once a week staff lesson if I am lucky enough to find someone to look after kids. Might have to make it flatwork now though was just getting better again!

Can I sneak on here please - I'm 4+2 and due 2nd August.

Totally scared as I had a mc last summer but don't feel at home on the mc threads as I intend to keep riding which a lot of people consider too risky.

I'm not doing any jumping or fast stuff and my boy is very safe if a little dizzy!

How long are you all thinking of riding for??

skihorse · 25/11/2009 08:47

Jamie I honestly don't know, I'd like to continue pretty much "as am" until the end of my first trimester and then after that just a lazy walk around the block if I've got the nerve...

skihorse · 27/11/2009 06:26

We also have Ponymum who is due in June. There are going to be a lot of horses led around next summer by us waddlers!

I haven't ridden all week because she's had dentist + jabs + trimmer and I'm way too tired anyway, but I can't wait to get out saturday morning!

horseymum · 27/11/2009 14:01

will carry on as long as i feel able to, being careful what i do/which horses i ride. When i had the mc I had not ridden for several months any way so for me don't see it as amajor risk factor (rightly or wrongly). Was comforted by GP saying, very hard to shift a healthy one, nothing you can do to save it if not - maybe a bit harsh and pragmatic but life has to go on and i cannot stop doing absolutely everything. Couldn't face lesson yesterday as too exhasuted!

Congratulations to all of you! Am not broody for a baby but ooh a puppy....now you're talking! Have been banned though. Sob.

skihorse · 28/11/2009 05:24

horseymum I very much agree with your GP, the healthy ones us a lot of duct tape to stay in place. Psssst - I'll be skiing too!

Owls Looks like the tackroom will be the place to come if you're looking for a loan horse... there's a horsey girl on the August bus looking hopeful too.

Pixel · 28/11/2009 17:37

My friend is has just found out she is expecting (due early summer), so that will put paid to any thoughts she had of riding now that her youngest dcs have started playgroup. She is having her second set of twins! I think she is still in shock.

MitchyInge · 29/11/2009 08:53

v v v broody for puppy here too

SparklyAlice · 30/11/2009 16:52

We are ttc here too atm, and i am thinking of having to put my little mare out on loan

SparklyAlice · 30/11/2009 16:53

Lost some of my post there Congratulations to you all

SparklyAlice · 03/12/2009 08:42

Can i add myself to the tack room expecting in the summer list?

Owls · 03/12/2009 08:50

Whoo another one! Congratulations Alice!

Nope still not broody.

Ski, I can't get away with having another dog at the moment lord only knows what DH would do if I tried to sneak another horse in. But oh a puppy.....

skihorse · 13/12/2009 09:01

Congrats Alice!

Well I told a few people at the yard on Thursday night because it was our xmas party last night and they'd warned me it would be a late night. Right, I'm the 9pm girl right now. So I told them and there was much squealing of "we're having a baby, WE're having a baby!" "We?" Everyone is very pro me continuing to ride in light of my mare being so sweet - but they understand that I no longer want to ride out in groups anymore.

Anyway we got to the party last night and everyone but everyone knew - talk about centre of attention! One of the girls had a total panic that I was going to sell her... but I am adamant I am not going to become one of those women who doesn't get back in the saddle for 10 years... particularly in light of YO wanting to build a creche!

MitchyInge · 14/12/2009 09:28

congratulations alice! I missed that announcement somehow - can see my broodiness is going to get worse - is it too soon to start thinking about names?

a puppy would fill the gap nicely for me too Owls or another pony, keep meeting exceptionally beautiful sec Bs who are cuddly and kissable

Alicehasamincepieintheoven · 26/12/2009 20:58

Thanks Mitchy.

I own a stunning little sec B mare who is out on loan. The easiest pony to do but can be a bit sharp when ridden (i think most of them are tbh) Hoping to get her back for when DD is about 8 (only 6years to go ) and pony will be 16. Hopefully keep loaning her out til then as no time or money for 3 horses!

Ponymum · 27/12/2009 15:18

I'm due in June. I had terrible SPD last pregnancy and only got back on a horse after 10 months AND that was against the physio's advice! I have to keep telling myself to focus on the long term goal of riding with my DCs in the future. The little bit of riding I did between pregnancies settled my mind that I will be able to ride properly again - and definitely in time for when the DCs are old enough to want ponies!

It's a pity we've not had any Christmas babies as I'm sure we could have done wonders with making a nativity scene in the tack room... baby lying in a haylage net, swaddled in a saddle blanket, someone must have a donkey as a paddock companion they could lend us, etc.

Hope it's going well for everyone!

Alicehasamincepieintheoven · 27/12/2009 17:43

Ponymum - no-one wants winter babies as it is too much hard work doing horses in the winter as well as having to have a couple of days off to have baby. I am sure the reason there are so many of us due in the summer is because the horses live out

pandora69 · 29/12/2009 00:55

Whispering It looks like I may be having a September baby, which fits in very well with the plan.

The plan involves selling big horse (poor boy hasn't really got over birth of baby no.1. He thought he was the centre of the universe. Once the Shitland arrived too he nearly had a nervous breakdown. He needs a new owner so he can be polished and fittened up to his gleaming fabulous former self before he gets past it.) Once big horse is sold I will produce baby no.2, getting nefarious neddy fixes by plonking child 1. on her pony and dragging her wherever I fancy going. She is 2 and a half and already a hunt regular . Once baby no. 2 is here I will buy the new horse, smaller and brown (big horse is enormous and white. So as well as his emotional needs and issues he is generally filthy and an embarrassment to be seen out with presently.) It must jump well, have brakes, not spill drinks at the meet, and not be afraid of Shitlands being attached to it by a lead rope. With the spare cash from the sale of big horse I hope to have enough to purchase a CushionRide surface for the area I have earmarked for my arena. Any luck, and I'll have a baby popped out naturally (this time!) in Sept and be hunting again by November. I hope.

I realise this is a complicated plan, but how hard can it be? (I will confess the plan last time involved popping out a baby on time, going to the county show and qualifying big horse for RIHS. I was very nearly successful - except for the 'on time' bit and the 'qualifying bit.' Nearly though . You have to dream.)

skihorse · 29/12/2009 06:48

Oooh pandora - very exciting!

What could go wrong indeed?

I'm glad you have a plan - selling the neurotic big one certainly sounds like a decent plan - plus now you'll have a brilliant excuse for doing so.

Alicehasamincepieintheoven · 29/12/2009 11:05

Pandora - i can't think of anything that could go wrong

Ponymum · 29/12/2009 11:45

Congrats pandora. I hear you on the small and brown versus large and grey - sounds exactly like the plan for my next steed. I can see the wanted ad now: "Nervous new mummy seeks small, brown sensible cob. Please do not bother calling regarding your 17.2hh grey warmblood/TB mental case as you know I'll end up accidentally buying it."
