Some of you may remember our awful rollercoaster of a summer last year with dd’s beautiful eventer going backwards and forwards to hospital. Surgery with months of rehab sadly ended with us having to say goodbye in September. Dd is still grieving but has thrown herself into training her young mare and a rather scatty ex-racer. The mare has been going brilliantly - she’s told us she’s not that keen on XC but she’s a good, careful showjumper and absolutely loves dressage, winning virtually every time she goes out. A few weeks ago she did two dressage tests but dd was worried about her being a little short on her left hind. It was so slight you couldn’t see it - she won both her tests with the highest scores of the day so obviously the judge couldn’t see it either but dd could feel something was off. We got the vet out who couldn’t see anything and didn’t want to nerve block because whatever it is is so subtle that he wasn’t sure if nerve blocking would help. She was a little tight over her SI so he injected that in case that was causing the problem and since then DD’s been doing lots of groundwork, raised poles and hacking up hills. But whatever it is hasn’t gone away - she had a dressage lesson with a very experienced coach this week who said she’s not quite right and that dd wasn’t imagining it. So she’s off to the same hospital in a few days time and I’ve got a horrible feeling history is repeating itself..
