Have you got any goals?

Maybe a new horse or specific competition? New hacking route?

We've just come back from camp woth my lovely 5 year old, he travelled beautifully and settled straight into his temporary stable. It's so lovely having a horse who is consistently laid back on the ground.

We did 2 XC sessions, 1 flatwork, 1 grid/poles. A few months ago he was so tense if other horses came in the arena he wouldn't move. Now he's cantering around them, and standing relaxed while they jump - so pleased with how far he's come.

He had the odd moment (despite crossing rivers at home, he didn't want to go in the water, and he could jump up the steps, but couldn't work out how to get down!) but he is so funny, and made me laugh all weekend.

I'm feeling very lucky to be on a yard where us jumping 40cm logs gets as much celebration as the people jumping huge courses!

The horse I went to see failed the vetting on the xray of his hock, was a case the vet said of not if but when he went lame. So I pulled out. Was heartbroken 💔

Saw another one a week later who arrived on New Years Eve last year, after flying vetting and xrays, so I've owned nearly 6 months. Had a lot of teething problems first with ringworm and then with gastric ulcers.

Both fixed, having weekly lessons and riding 5 days a week. Meet Red my Shire x TB. He was aggressive when he had ulcers, used to weave and barge out of the stable and bite and kick but since they have been treated he's like a different horse, cuddly and quiet. Love him to bits.

I'm so glad that Red is happy (and that you are doing well together) now the ringworm and ulcers are sorted.
