Any decent brands I should know about? We are new to horse riding and I need to kit out my daughter (primary age) especially with some warm jodhpurs for the winter.

All kids love the colours and matchy matchy of Le Mieux but equal quality (and cheaper!) are brands such as Aubrion and HY :)

Decathlon do good affordable riding clothing, I wouldn't spend too much for a beginner primary age child who'll be taking lessons. Later on if she gets to the stage when she's hanging around the stables all day helping out it's worth investing in some really warm clothes/coat but while she's actually riding it's surprisingly warm (you get the heat coming off the horse/pony as well as what you're generating yourself through exercise) so she may find fleecy lined ones too hot/sweaty. And she'll outgrow whatever you get her quite quickly too. If you're going to make an investment I'd get her her own riding hat first of all.

Vinted is also quite good for riding gear, I've picked up some excellent barely used brand name leggings (bear in mind the kids today mostly wear riding leggings or tights rather than the more traditional jods), riding boots, jackets etc for a fraction of the price of used - worth checking out pikeur, Ariat, Aztec diamond on there...

I would echo the other posters and say do not spend much on riding clothes (jodhpurs, boots, coats etc) as they grow out of them so quickly and it's not that important. They will keep warm when riding and often end up asking to take layers off even in winter. Basics from somewhere like decathlon, go outdoors or harry hall when they have offers on are fine. I'd save your money for good quality, well fitting riding hats and body protectors fitted at a saddlery. So much more important as those at riding schools are likely to not fit properly or not be in good condition and when having them fitted properly they will ensure a good fit whilst also allowing room to grow.
