The dreaded colic

My 13 year old mare is currently at equine hospital. She cast on Monday, never cast before, then later in evening colicked, had electrolytes through her nose, after an internal exam and Buscopan. Seemed fine Tuesday morning after sloppy mash during the night (I would normally starve but this was vet's advice). Tuesday mid morning, colicked again. Vet thought she could feel an impaction hence why she rushed us to hospital for scan, but scan and bloods showed nothing unusual. They're reintroducing food now to see how she goes.

Never had a colic episode with her before - my little plump pony yes, but her never.

Any ideas? She's not enjoyed grazing this summer, I put it down to poor grass, she's kicking the gate after 3 hours. But no other changes in behaviour.

It will be the sudden rain and grass flush. Laminitis + colic cases after such a dry period of time with then steady rain in warm weather are inevitable.
I limit the access to grass for mine under these conditions + give gut balancer + shot coligone each day.
Fingers crossed and hope everything works out.

Thank you, we wondered about the grass, but I initially dismissed it really given she wasn't grazing long, but it could be the cause. I really can't think of anything else.
