DD starts Equine college next week and I’ve been looking everywhere for branded clothes that fit her, 1/2 chaps etc and really struggling. Can anyone recommend any?
Dublin and Morterat XL chaps are def running up small. Le Mieux only go to a size 18 which also run up a bit on small side. Managed to get a men’s XXL polo shirt that’s black and not very nice.
DD is a 20-22.

Whats wrong with what she usually rides in?

Tuffa do large sizes and are reasonably priced

Perhaps have a look at plus size equestrian influencers and what they wear.

However check the college rules carefully many have very strict weight limits, the one I went to didn't allow you to ride unless you weighed in at under 13st fully clothed including hat, boots, and body protector. I was a size 14 and struggled with the limit.

I was assuming she would take her own horse?

PamIsAVolleyballChamp · 25/08/2025 20:56

Where does the currently ride? Can they advise?

Thanks, I don’t think they’ll let her ride. She’s happy to do in hand etc but still needs to be kitted out for that

What course/college is she intending to go to? There weren't any in-hand/groundwork lessons when I went (many years ago tbf). If part of the required modules involve riding, then she will fail them if she can't do that. Is the college aware that she won't be able to do any riding?

Pleasedontdothat · 30/08/2025 08:28

If she’s not riding then she won’t need half chaps, brands like flexars have very generous sizing and make a point of having a wide range of sizes in their marketing. However, in the nicest way possible, is she sure that equine college is going to be the right place for her right now? If she’s the only one not riding and is also much bigger than the average student, she might find it quite a difficult place to be.

If she does equine business/science course, then there usually isn't a ridden element.
