Horse kick - would you call the vet

Saturday morning DD pony was kicked by our cob (big size difference 10h pony 16h horse). He held leg up for about 10 secs, then put it down and went about his day as though nothing had happened. I caught him to take a look and he has a graze on the inside of his hock and a lump higher up towards his stifle (cob has very large feet). No lameness or heat and doesn’t appear unhappy. Lump has reduced significantly with holding a cold compress on it twice a day. I’m an anxious person and have been known to book vet visits for reassurance which I would really like to do.. however I don’t want his legs to be excluded from our insurance policy in 12 months for superficial injuries which I’m 99% sure can be treated at home. On the other hand we are going on holiday next week and would appreciate the reassurance of having him looked at. Would appreciate opinions? Thanks 😊

Well if there’s no lameness or pain what would you want the vet to do? Do you go to the doctor if you’ve stubbed your toe? I can’t see any reason for a vet visit because I can’t see how it will reassure you really.

If the pony appeared to be suffering in some way it would be different of course.

oh god if i called the vet for every lump and bump my lot get up to, they'd have to take up residence at my yard

No heat or lameness i'd just be cracking on

If there's no lameness, I wouldn't be worried. He's fine. He has a lump and probably a bruise.

Thank you all - this is what I needed to hear 🤩
